214 Blueridge/Phibbs Exchange/Burrard Station is a bus route operated by West Vancouver Transit during off-peak hours and on weekends/holidays and Coast Mountain Bus Company during peak hours in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Route Details

This is an east-west circular route connecting the Seymour Heights and Blueridge areas of North Vancouver and Phibbs Exchange. Select peak hour trips extend to Downtown Vancouver. Service runs daily every 30 minutes, increasing to every 12–15 minutes during peak hours. Off-peak service is provided with Community Shuttles. This is the only route in the system to be jointly operated by West Vancouver Transit and Coast Mountain Bus Company.

Trips depart Phibbs Exchange heading south on Orwell Street, east on Main Street, becoming Dollarton Highway, north on Old Dollarton Highway, north on Riverside Drive, east on Mount Seymour Parkway, north on Emerson Way, west on Carnation Street, north on Berkley Road, east on Berkley Avenue, south on Hyannis Drive, and west on Sechelt Road to Sechelt Road & Hyannis Drive. Continuing from Sechelt Road & Hyannis Drive, trips continue west on Sechelt Road, south on Berkley Avenue becoming Berkley Road, east on Carnation Street, south on Emerson Way, west on Mount Seymour Parkway, south on Riverside Road, west on Old Dollarton Highway, west on Dollarton highway becoming Main Street, and north on Orwell Street to Phibbs Exchange. north on Mountain Highway, and east on Oxford Street to Phibbs Exchange.

Select morning peak hour trips continue to Burrard Station after completing the circular Blueridge routing and arrive at Phibbs Exchange by going via regular route, west on Dollarton Highway becoming Main Street and north on Orwell Street to Phibbs Exchange. Continuing from Phibbs Exchange, trips head north on Orwell Street to the access road, south on Highway 1 and across the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge, then taking the McGill Street exit heading west on McGill, south on Nanaimo Street, west on Dundas Street becoming Powell Street, south on Main Street, west on E. Pender Street, south on Howe Street, and west on Dunsmuir Street to Burrard Station.

Two trips during the afternoon peak start at Burrard Station heading west on Melville Street, north on Thurlow Street, east on W. Pender Street, north on Homer Street, east on W. Cordova Street becoming Powell Street and Dundas Street, north on Nanaimo Street, east on McGill Street, north on Highway 1 across the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge and taking the Main Street exit, then west on Main Street, and north on Orwell Street to Phibbs Exchange, where it continues its regular routing to Blueridge.

History

• October 1973 - Route introduced as 214 Berkley; service operates between Hyannis at Sechelt to Kootenay Loop via Riverside Drive and Phibbs Exchange; peak hour service to Downtown Vancouver (Hornby at Smithe) introduced as 714 Berkley FastBUS.
• May 1975 - Downtown Terminus moved to Haro–Smithe Connector between Thurlow and Burrard Streets.
• April 1981 - Downtown routing revised to take Pender Street; service along Main Street and Hastings Street discontinued
• December 1984 - Re-routed to Mount Seymour Parkway after the road was extended to Fern Street
• November 1986 - Downtown terminus extended to Burrard Station from Dunsmuir & Hornby
• October 2001 - Service after 10:00 PM daily discontinued due to low ridership and funding shortfall
• April 2005 - Off-peak service switched to Community Shuttle service with 30-minute frequencies
• November 2005 - Two late-night trips added
• June 2008 - Service along Carrall Street discontinued as service is re-routed to take current routing due to the Carrall Street Greenway project
• June 2013 - Powell Street Upgrades: Blueridge service from Vancouver routing detoured from Homer & Pender via Homer, Hastings, Clark, then regular routing; Vancouver-bound service from Powell & Clark via Clark, Hastings, Howe, then regular route to Burrard Station
• August 2014 - Completion of Powell Street Upgrades; regular routing restored
• September 2015 - Rerouted onto Highway 1 between Fern Street and Phibbs Exchange
• September 2016 - North Vancouver Transit Centre closed down, conventional operations moved to Burnaby Transit Centre while shuttle operations moved from Oakridge Transit Centre to Hamilton Transit Centre
• September 2017 - Community Shuttle operations moved to West Vancouver due to inefficient deadheading between Hamilton Transit Centre and North Vancouver. With this change, the route became the first in TransLink history to be operated by two operating companies: off-peak shuttle operations done by West Vancouver Transit while peak hour conventional service operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company
• April 2020 - Westbound trips going beyond Phibbs Exchange renamed from 214 Vancouver to 214 Burrard Station
• May 2–11, 2020 - Service reduced to operate on a Saturday schedule on weekdays and a Sunday schedule on weekends as part of cost-saving measures due to low ridership relating to the COVID-19 pandemic
• July 24, 2023 - Phibbs Exchange upgrades: Terminus moved onto street-side exchange on Orwell Street. Routing in both directions revised to go via Riverside Drive instead of Highway 1 and Fern Street for access to/from Phibbs Exchange
• January 15, 2024 - Phibbs Exchange upgrades: Terminus moved from Orwell Street to inside Phibbs Exchange following the partial completion of the new loop
• April 2024 - Discontinuation of suburban stopping procedures. Service revised to pick-up and drop-off at all designated stops on the express portion in Vancouver instead of doing pick-up only towards Blueridge and drop-off only towards Burrard Station
• May 6, 2024 - Completion of Phibbs Exchange upgrades: Stop relocated inside the new loop. Temporary routing along Riverside Drive and Dollarton Road was made permanent. Routing along Fern Street, Highway 1, and the Main Street exit discontinued. Temporary routing along Mountain Highway and Oxford Street to accommodate the temporary Phibbs Exchange configuration also discontinued
