Coast Mountain Bus Company 3211-3257
Coast Mountain Bus Company 3211–3257 were a set of 46 New Flyer Industries D40 units built in 1992.
Compared to its 1991 counterparts, these units are distinguished by the size of the glass on the front and rear doors. Regardless of urban or suburban configurations, the size of the glass on 1992 units are in the two-thirds and one-third configuration for both the front and rear doors.
Of the 46 units in this batch, 11 were in suburban configuration for service on Highway 99 suburban routes. They featured a different seating layout using American Seating Model 6484 seats and have individual reading lights. The rear exit door was also more narrow. The windows were also different between the urban and suburban configurations. Urban units had split two-piece "tip-in" windows for all passenger windows, unlike their 1991 counterparts where the first window at the front was a single-piece "tip-in" window. Suburban units used Storm-Tite dual slider windows.
Beginning in late 2009, a number of units became redundant following the arrival of newer Nova Bus LFS and LFS HEV models. Surplus units were placed into storage at Oakridge with fareboxes removed. They returned into service based out of Oakridge for one last time as special trippers during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, ending 19 years of service. In May 2010, these units were disposed of by being offered for sale in running condition by Western Canada Remarketing on behalf of TransLink/CMBC and were placed in a holding lot in Richmond east of No. 4 Road between the dyke and River Drive along with several other New Flyer D60 and West Vancouver Orion I units. Due to the lack of interested buyers, they were removed from the lot by September 2010 and scrapped in Surrey before being loaded onto a barge bound for Tacoma, Washington, for recycling.
From 1992–1996, these units were under the old fleet numbering system and numbered based on yard assignment. All units were renumbered in 1996 to their current numbers and while they formerly operated under BC Transit with Vancouver Regional Transit System, they ran with the same numbers after April 1999 when all Greater Vancouver operations split off into TransLink.

1991 New Flyer D40 in suburban configuration. Note the use of the half-and-half windows for the front doors and the two-thirds and one-third configuration for the rear doors, similar to 1992 units.
