187 Coquitlam Central Station/Parkway is a Community Shuttle route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
This is a north-south circular route running in Coquitlam connecting Coquitlam Central Station and Westwood Plateau. Service runs every 30 minutes, increasing to every 15 minutes during peak hours.
Trips depart Coquitlam Central Station heading west on bus access road, north on Mariner Way becoming Johnson Street, then Plateau Boulevard, and west on Parkway Boulevard to Parkway Boulevard & Plateau Boulevard, where it heads south on Parkway Boulevard, south on Johnson Street, and east on bus access road to Coquitlam Central Station.
September 2003 - Service introduced as C29 Coquitlam Station/Parkway Boulevard during Community Shuttle service rollout in the Tri-Cities, bringing bus service to the upper portion of Westwood Plateau
September 2005 - Route became bike rack equipped
April 2008 - Friday late-night service extended to all weekday nights[1]
December 2008 - Service during rush hours improved to every 15 minutes[2]
December 2013 - To improve service reliability, routing revised to use Johnson Street in both directions between Coquitlam Station and Guildford Way; service on Pinetree Way and Guildford Way discontinued[3]
December 2016 - Community Shuttle branding dissolved, C29 service renumbered and renamed to 187 Coquitlam Central Station/Parkway[4]
June 2017 - Introduction of peak hour short-turn trips aligned with West Coast Express trains running as 187 Panorama, terminating at Robson Drive & Waterford Place and continued as 186 Coquitlam Central Station; return trips started at Robson Drive & Madrona Place, coming off a 186 Panorama
January 2021 - COVID-19 service adjustment: Discontinuation of the 187 Panorama peak hour short-turn trips due to low ridership and reduced West Coast Express ridership; peak hour service reduced from every 2–15 minutes to every 15 minutes
September 2022 - Introduction of an additional roundtrip running in the morning and afternoon peak periods when school is in session to reduce pass-ups at Summit Middle School
October 17, 2022 - Introduction of an additional afternoon overload roundtrips when school is in session to address overcrowding
November 14, 2022 - Introduction of three additional afternoon roundtrips when school is in session using conventional buses to address overcrowding
November 21, 2022 - Discontinuation of the school day-only PM roundtrip introduced on October 17, 2022
December 21, 2022 - Three conventional PM school day-only overload roundtrips introduced in November 2022 to be made permanent effective January 2023 with no changes in departure times
January 3, 2022 - Introduction of three permanent PM school day-only roundtrips to address overcrowding
September 2024 - Various weekday service adjustments:
All peak hour trips revised to use conventional buses instead of Community Shuttles to address overcrowding
Due to the change in vehicle type, all school day-only Community Shuttle trips and conventional trips that were added since 2022 are discontinued due to redundancy
Early morning service reduced from every 10–15 minutes to every 15 minutes
