This is an east-west route connecting Coquitlam Central Station and Braid Station in New Westminster via the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex. Service runs daily every 30 minutes.
Eastbound trips depart Braid Station via access road, west on Braid Street, north on Brunette Avenue, north on Laurentian Crescent, west on Austin Avenue, north on Poirier Street, east on Foster Avenue, north on Linton Street, east on Como Lake Avenue, north on Mariner Way, east on Barnet Highway, and south on access road to Coquitlam Central Station.
Westbound trips depart Coquitlam Central Station heading south on Lougheed Highway, west on Dewdney Trunk Road, south on Mariner Way, west on Como Lake Avenue, south on Linton Street, west on Foster Avenue, south on Poirier Street, east on Austin Avenue, south on Laurentian Crescent, west on Brunette Avenue, and then access road to Braid Station.
On weekday afternoons when school is in session, a school special starts from Poirier Street & King Albert Street and runs towards Coquitlam Central Station with no changes in routing.
December 1995 - Peak hour trips between Port Moody Station and Coquitlam Station introduced, running on St. Johns Street and Barnet Highway going eastbound in the morning and westbound in the evening[2]
February 1996 - Midday service to Port Coquitlam extended from Port Coquitlam Station to Port Coquitlam Centre[3]
September 1996 - Routing revised to enter Coquitlam Station via the Johnson–Mariner overpass following its completion[4]
September 1999 - Service revised to provide two-way service during peak hours to the Dewdney Trunk Road area formerly serviced by the 147[5]
October 2001 - Peak hour service discontinued and revised to run only as 153 Port Coquitlam Centre/Coquitlam Station. Peak hour extension between Coquitlam Station and Port Moody Station discontinued due to low ridership and funding shortfall[6]
January 2002 - Service discontinued due to low ridership
September 2002 - Service introduced as a new route, 153 Coquitlam Rec Centre/Braid Station to replace portions of 151 Coquitlam Station/Vancouver along Brunette Avenue and Coquitlam Rec Centre
December 2012 - Weekend/holiday trips revised to run Community Shuttles[7]
December 2016 - Service extended from Coquitlam Rec. Centre to Coquitlam Central Station via Mariner way to connect with SkyTrain;[8] all trips converted to Community Shuttles
September 2018 - All weekday trips revised to operate with conventional buses
September 2022 - Introduction of a PM school special starting at Poirier Street & King Albert Street following the reallocation of resources from the PM 151 school special running between the Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex and Port Coquitlam Station
January 2023 - Saturday eastbound evening service increased from every hour to every 30 minutes to address overcrowding and pass-ups
