418 Kingswood/22nd Street Station is a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Route Details

This is an east-west circular route connecting 22nd Street Station in New Westminster and the Kingswood industrial area in Richmond. Service runs during peak hours only every 15–20 minutes in the morning and every 20 minutes in the afternoon.

Trips depart 22nd Street Station heading east on 7th Avenue, south on 20th Street, west on Stewardson Way and across the Queensborough Bridge, taking the Howes Street exit and heading north on Howes, west on Boyd Street becoming Westminster Highway, south on Nelson Road, west on Blundell Road, crossing over the No. 6 Road Canal to Blundell Road & Zylmans Way, where it does a U-turn and returns heading east on Blundell Road to Blundell Road & York Road. Then, trips continue east on Blundell Road, north on Nelson Road, east on Westminster Highway becoming Boyd Street, south on Howes Street, east on Highway 91A and across the Queensborough Bridge, north on the bus access road onto 23rd Street, and east on 7th Avenue to 22nd Street Station.

The first three PM westbound trips start at Westminster Highway & Boundary Road and the first and third AM eastbound trips start at Boyd Street & Gifford Street. The last two PM westbound trips run as 418 Gifford Street, terminating at Boyd Street & Gifford Street before returning to Hamilton Transit Centre.

History

• December 2007 - Service introduced as C98 Kingswood/22nd Street Station running with Community Shuttle route and hourly frequencies
• December 2008 - Service frequencies improved to every 30 minutes
• Winter 2008 - Operations moved from Richmond Transit Centre to Oakidge Transit Centre
• September 2013 - Service along Highway 91A between Howes Street and Westminster Highway discontinued and revised to run along Boyd Street and Westminster Highway to improve service coverage and replace portions of the C99 Port Royal/Hamilton
• December 2014 - Service revised to run with conventional buses instead of Community Shuttles. Operations transferred from Oakridge Transit Centre to Richmond Transit Centre
• September 2016 - Operations moved from Richmond Transit Centre to Hamilton Transit Centre
• May 2017 - Service proposed to be extended further west on Blundell Road and further into the Kingswood Industrial Area and to service Fraserwood, replacing the peak-hour routing of the 410 22nd Street Station/Railway. Pending completion of road network, route envisioned to eventually terminate at Riverport or extend further to Highway 99 & Steveston Highway
• September 2018 - Community Shuttle branding dissolved: Route renumbered from C98 to 418 with no changes in routing or frequency. Service initially planned to be extended to Blundell Road & Zylmans Way but deferred until further notice due to delays in road construction
• July 2019 - Kingswood terminus moved from 6500 Block of No. 8 Road to Blundell Road & York Road following completion of road construction; service on No. 8 Road discontinued
• September 2019 - Kingswood terminus moved one block west from Blundell Road & York Road to 16100 Block on Blundell Road
• September 2020 - Stop introduced at Blundell Road & Zylmans Way
• April 2021 - Service increased in both directions to consistently run every 20 minutes from every 20–30 minutes. The last two AM eastbound trips revised to travel the full route instead of terminating at Westminster & Boundary
• April 2022 - Morning service increased from every 20 minutes to every 15–20 minutes
• January 2025 - Kingswood terminus moved from WB 16100 Block on Blundell Road to EB Blundell Road NS York Road to simplify routing pattern and to improve convenience for passengers without having to wait at the timing point to continue beyond 16100 Block on Blundell Road
• April 2025 - 418 Boundary Road trips renamed to 418 Gifford Street for clarity
