This is a north-south NightBus route connecting Downtown Vancouver and Marine Drive Station running primarily on Fraser Street. Service runs daily every 30 minutes during the late-night and early morning hours in lieu of regular 8 Fraser service. On weekdays, service is increased to every 20 minutes for the first three trips.
Northbound trips depart Marine Drive Station heading north on Yukon Street, east on SW Marine Drive, north on Fraser Street, west on E. Broadway, north on Kingsway becoming Main Street, west on E. Hastings Street, south on Richards Street, and west on W. Pender Street to W. Pender Street & Howe Street.
Southbound trips depart from W. Pender Street & Howe Street heading west on W. Pender Street, south on Howe Street, east on W. Georgia Street, north on Seymour Street, east on W. Cordova Street, south on Main Street, east on Kingsway, east on E. Broadway, south on Fraser Street, west on SE Marine Drive, and south on Yukon Street to Marine Drive Station.
Pre-2001 - Service operated as an Owl Service component of the 8 Granville/Fraser
October 2001 - All Owl routes cancelled due to funding shortfall[1]
September 2004 - Service introduced under NightBus branding, with service running until 3:10AM from Monday to Saturday[2]
December 2004 - Sunday service introduced
December 2005 - All trips revised to use diesel buses instead of trolleybuses due to Canada Line construction and the dieselization of the fleet. Interlining with the N15 discontinued and minor routing changes in downtown
April 2006 - Service revised to terminate at new bays on Howe Street between Georgia and Hastings due to the construction of the Canada Line[3]
February 1–March 2, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Service revised to not stop on Seymour Street near Robson Street on southbound trips due to downtown pedestrian corridors[4]
June 2016 - Extended to Marine Drive Station from Marine Drive & Fraser Street to provide improved connections to other NightBus routes and increase passenger safety[5]
June 2018 - Consolidation of NightBus routes to the NightBus District at Vancouver City Centre Station results in southbound routing revised to go on W. Georgia Street instead of Robson Street
April 24–May 14, 2020 - Service suspended as part of cost-saving measures due to low ridership relating to the COVID-19 pandemic[6]
January 2024 - Select trips begin operation with NFI XDE60 resulting from the introduction of articulated buses on route 2 Macdonald
