131 Edmonds Station/Kootenay Loop was a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Route Details
This was a north-south route connecting Edmonds Station in Burnaby and Kootenay Loop in Vancouver. Service ran daily every hour, increasing to every 30 minutes during peak hours.
Northbound trips departed Edmonds Station heading east on 18th Avenue, north on 19th Street, east on Edmonds Street, west on Kingsway, north on Salisbury Avenue, east on Imperial Street, north on Walker Avenue, west on Stanley Street, north on Sperling Avenue, east on Burris Street, north on Canada Way, north on Douglas Road, west on Lougheed Highway, north on Willingdon Avenue, and east on Halifax Street to Brentwood Mall. Continuing from Brentwood Mall, trips went west on Halifax Street, north on Douglas Road, north on Gilmore Avenue, and west on Hastings Street to Kootenay Loop.
Southbound trips departed Kootenay Loop heading south on Kootenay Street, east on Hastings Street, south on Gilmore Avenue, and east on Douglas Road becoming Halifax Street to Brentwood Mall. Continuing from Brentwood Mall, trips went west on Halifax Street, south on Willingdon Avenue, east on Lougheed Highway, south on Douglas Road, east on Canada Way, west on Burris Street, south on Sperling Avenue, east on Stanley Street, south on Walker Avenue, west on Imperial Street, south on Salisbury Avenue, east on Kingsway, south on Edmonds Street, south on 19th Street, and west on 18th Avenue to Edmonds Station.
In the evenings, trips went via Burnaby City Hall in both directions routing via regular route until Canada Way, where trips went south on Deer Lake Parkway to Burnaby City Hall, then returned north on Deer Lake Parkway to Canada Way, then via regular route to Edmonds Station or Kootenay Loop. Some evening eastbound trips terminated at Brentwood Mall.

History
- July 1961 - Service introduced as 31 Douglas, running from Kootenay Loop to Edmonds Loop, continuing to 1st Street & 16th Avenue on weekdays and Saturdays in the daytime[1]
- August 1978 - Routing in both directions revised to take Hastings, Gilmore, Douglas, Halifax, Willingdon, Lougheed instead of Hastings, Delta, Brentlawn, Beta, Lougheed[2]
- October 1984 - Route renumbered and renamed from 31 Douglas to 131 Edmonds Loop/Kootenay Loop[3]
- January 1986 - Service extended from Edmonds Loop to Edmonds Station to provide a better connection to SkyTrain[4]
- September 1987 - Service revised to operate along Canada Way between Burris and Spruce, with a stop at the Burnaby Municipal Hall Loop instead of via Kensington, Sprott and Norland to service the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex following the introduction of the 144[5][6]
- December 1991 - Service rerouted to stay on Canada Way in the AM rush[7]
- December 1994 - Service after 7 p.m. daily revised to operate via City Hall[8]
- December 1996 - Service adjusted to operate through Burnaby Heights via Willingdon, Eton, McGill and Boundary to replace portions of the 139 Burnaby Heights/Kootenay Loop, 140 Kootenay Loop, and 141 Kootenay Loop[9]
- May 1998 - Routing proposed to go via Imperial Street between Salisbury and Canada Way to introduce transit service along Imperial Street and would result in the discontinuation of service on Walker, Stanley and Sperling[10]
- September 1998 - Service revised to operate via Gilmore Avenue and Hastings Street and service through Burnaby Heights discontinued as the 139 is reintroduced.[11] Accessible service introduced[12]
- May 2000 - Millennium Line construction: Routing revised from Brentwood Mall via Willingdon, Dawson, Beta, Lougheed then regular route to Lougheed Mall[13]
- September 2000 - Northbound PM peak hours service adjusted from every 18–28 minutes to every 20 minutes
- October 2001 - Service before 8 a.m. Saturdays, 9 a.m. Sundays, and service after 10 p.m. all days discontinued due to funding shortfall and low ridership[14][15]
- September 2002 - Service discontinued as part of the Millennium Line changes. Portions of the route replaced by the 129 Metrotown Station/Edmonds Station[16]
