496 Railway/Burrard Station was a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Route Details
This was a north-south express route connecting Steveston in Richmond and Downtown Vancouver via Airport Station, running primarily on Railway Avenue and Granville Street. Service ran during peak hours only every 10–20 minutes. Morning service ran towards Downtown Vancouver and afternoon service ran towards Richmond. In Richmond, this route supplemented portions of the 410 22nd Street Station/Railway. This route provided a direct service between Steveston and Downtown Vancouver and also provided an alternative express service to the 98 B-Line and other Granville Street express buses, bypassing Richmond Centre. Together with the 491 One Road/Burrard Station, these two routes formed a circular service between Steveston and Downtown Vancouver, with the 496 being the eastern half. Through-service depended on the time of day. Morning service on the 496 Burrard Station continued as a 491 One Road and afternoon 491 Burrard Station service continued as a 496 Railway.
Northbound trips departed from Moncton Street & Bayview Street heading west on Moncton, north on No. 1 Road, west on Chatham Street, north on 7th Avenue becoming Springmont Gate, west on Springmont Drive, east on William Road, north on Railway Avenue becoming Granville Avenue heading east, north on Gilbert Road and across the Dinsmore Bridge, north on Russ Baker Way, and east on Cessna Drive to Airport Station. Continuing from Airport Station, trips went north on Russ Baker Way, merging onto Grant McConachie Way and across the Arthur Laing Bridge, then west on SW Marine Drive becoming Granville Street heading north and across the Granville Street Bridge, then took the Seymour Street exit and went north on Seymour to Seymour & Davie Street, where it continued as a 491 One Road.
One northbound trip started from Chatham Street & 2nd Avenue with no changes in routing.
Southbound trips departed from Seymour Street & Davie Street coming off a 491 Burrard Station and went north on Seymour, west on W. Hastings Street, and south on Burrard Street to Burrard Station. Continuing from Burrard Station, trips went south on Burrard, east on Nelson Street, south on Howe Street and onto the Granville Street Bridge heading south on Granville Street becoming SW Marine Drive heading east and across the Arthur Laing Bridge heading south, taking the Russ Baker Way exit to Airport Station. Continuing from Airport Station. Trips went south on Russ Baker Way, east on Gilbert Road and across the Dinsmore Bridge and continued south on Gilbert, west on Granville Avenue becoming Railway Avenue heading south, west on Williams Road, south on Springmont Drive, south on Springmont Gate becoming 7th Avenue, east on Chatham Street, south on No. 1 Road, and east on Moncton Street to Moncton & No. 1 Road.

History
- August 2001 - Service introduced with service with select trips running articulated buses;[1] service change deferred from April due to transit strike[2]
- September 2002 - Downtown routing revised to go via Pender Street to Burrard Station instead of via Waterfront Station to reduce travel times and improve service reliability
- December 2005 - Introduction of 10-minute service between 7 and 8 a.m. towards Downtown Vancouver to address overcrowding
- September 2007 - Northbound trips revised to start at Moncton & Bayview instead of Moncton & No. 1 Road
- December 2007 - One AM northbound trip revised to start at Chatham & 2nd instead of from Chatham & No. 1 Road
- September 2009 - Service discontinued following the completion of the Canada Line[3]
