This was an east-west route running primarily in Downtown Vancouver. Service ran daily every 10–15 minutes, increasing to every 6 minutes during peak hours. It was part of the Frequent Transit Network (FTN), with service provided every 15 minutes or better throughout the day, seven days a week for 15 hours or more.
Eastbound trips departed from Davie Street & Bidwell Street heading west on Davie, north on Beach Avenue, east on Morton Avenue, south on Denman Street, east on Davie Street, east on Pacific Boulevard, north on Abbott Street, east on Keefer Street, south on Quebec Street, east on National Avenue, and south on Station Street to Station & Terminal Avenue.
Westbound trips departed Main Street Station heading south on Station Street, west on Terminal Avenue, north on Quebec Street, west on Keefer Street, south on Abbott Street, west on Expo Boulevard becoming Pacific Boulevard, and west on Davie Street to Davie & Bidwell Street.
December 2004 - Service introduced as C23 Yaletown/Davie, replacing portions of the 1 Beach/Burrard Station and provind two-way service along portions of the former 1 route.[1] Service ran every 10 minutes, with no evening service
July 2005 - Service proposed to extend from Yaletown to Main Street Station via Chinatown[2]
September 2005 - Route became bike rack equipped
December 2005 - Routing in Yaletown revised due to Canada Line construction and the closure of Davie Street between Hamilton Street and Pacific Boulevard. Introduction of extended evening service on Fridays and Saturdays, extending operation hours from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with service every 15 minutes
Yaletown terminus moved to Drake Street & Pacific Boulevard
Westbound trips revised to go via Drake, Seymour, Davie then regular route. Eastbound trips via regular route, Richards, Drake. Peak hour eastbound trips via regular route, Richards, Drake, Homer, Pacific, Drake
April 2006 - Yaletown terminus revised from Pacific & Davie to Pacific & Drake. Westbound routing revised to go via Drake and Seymour while eastbound routing revised to take Richards and Drake
September 2006 - Service extended to Main Street Station; westbound trips revised to start at Main Street Station during peak hours only while all eastbound trips extended to Main Street Station[3]
December 2006 - Extended evening service introduced daily
January 25–February 28, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Service between Yaletown–Roundhouse and Main Street–Science World discontinued due to downtown pedestrian corridors and BC Place & Canada Hockey Place venue security zones[4]
March 1–13, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Service between Yaletown–Roundhouse and Main Street–Science World resumed routing via Pacific, Cambie, Pender, Abbott, Keefer due to BC Place & Canada Hockey Place venue security zones[5]
September 2010 - Peak hour service increased to every 5–10 minutes
December 2013 - Interlining with the C21 ended due to different service requirements of the two routes. Two-way service established between Yaletown and Main Street
December 2016 - Service discontinued and merged with the C21 to simplify Community Shuttle service in the downtown core and to become the 23 Main Street Station/Beach. Service on Davie Street in Yaletown replaced by an extension of the 6 Davie/Downtown[6]
