Route Details

This is an east-west route running in Vancouver connecting Joyce–Collingwood Station and 29th Avenue Station via Champlain Heights. Service runs daily every 20 minutes, increasing to every 15 minutes during peak hours. Service on Sundays/holidays run every 30 minutes. Late-night service daily runs every hour.

Eastbound trips depart 29th Avenue Station heading east on 29th Avenue, south on Earles Street, east on Kingsway, south on Rupert Street becoming Kerr Street, east on Rosemont Drive, south on Butler Street, east on Maquinna Drive, south on Champlain Crescent, north on Matheson Crescent, east on Arbor Avenue, north on Boundary Road, west on E. 49th Avenue, south on Arlington Street, north on Champlain Crescent becoming Tyne Street, west on E. 45th Avenue, and north on Joyce Street to Joyce–Collingwood Station.

Westbound trips depart Joyce–Collingwood Station heading south on Joyce Street, east on E. 45th Avenue, south on Tyne Street, east on Arlington Street, east on E. 49th Avenue, south on Frontenac Street, east on Hurst Avenue, south on Boundary Road, west on Arbor Avenue, south on Matheson Crescent, west on Champlain Crescent, west on Maquinna Drive, north on Butler Street, west on Rosemont Drive, north on Kerr Street becoming Rupert Street, west on Kingsway, north on Earles Street, and east on E. 29th Avenue to 29th Avenue Station.

When school is in session, an additional trip to Joyce Station in the afternoon starts from Rupert Street & E 45th Avenue with no changes in routing.

History

• February 1979 - Service extended to Matheson Crescent & Rumble Street to service the developing Champlain Heights area
• September 1981 - Service extended to Marquette & Champlain
• May 1984 - Name changed from 26 Boundary to 26 Joyce Loop/Champlain Heights
• May 1986 - Service revised to connect Joyce Station and 29th Avenue Station via Champlain Heights and Champlain Mall, replacing portions of the 16 south on 29th Avenue Station and the 27 south of Joyce Station
• October 1990 - Accessible service introduced
• May 1995 - Service rerouted to take Tyne Street instead of Joyce, 45th and Doman Street to turn onto 49th Avenue due to concerns of turning buses on 49th Avenue
  • Eastbound service - Regular route to Boundary, 49th Avenue, Tyne Street, 45th Avenue, Joyce Street
  • Westbound service - Joyce Street, 45th Avenue, Tyne Street, 49th Avenue, regular route
• April 2011 - Late-night service reduced from every 30 minutes to every hour due to low ridership
• November 2015 - Service proposed to go via Tyne and Arlington streets south of E. 49th Avenue to replace portions of the 49 Metrotown Station/UBC
• June 2016 - Re-routed from 49th Avenue to travel on Tyne and Arlington streets to maintain coverage in Champlain Heights and to make up for lost coverage on the 49 Metrotown Station/UBC,
• September 2024 - Introduction of a PM eastbound school trip starting from Rupert Street & E. 45th Avenue to address overcrowding
• January 2025 - Service proposed to run along Boundary Road instead of Tyne Street in both directions between Joyce Station and Champlain Heights as part of a long-term proposal. Service on Tyne Street would be maintained by a new route
