27 Kootenay Loop/Joyce Station is a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Route Details

This is a north-south route running in Vancouver primarily on Rupert Street connecting Kootenay Loop and Joyce–Collingwood Station. Service runs daily every 20 minutes, increasing to every 15 minutes during peak hours. Late-night service daily runs every hour.

Northbound trips depart from Joyce–Collingwood Station heading north on Joyce Street, west on Wellington Avenue, north on Rupert Street, east on Adanac Street, north on Boundary Road, and west on E. Hastings Street to Kootenay Loop.

Southbound trips depart from Kootenay Loop heading south on Kootenay Street, east on E. Hastings Street, south on Boundary Road, west on Adanac Street, south on Rupert Street, east on Wellington Avenue, and south on Joyce Street to Joyce–Collingwood Station.

On weekday afternoons when school is in session, one northbound trip starts at E. Broadway & Penticton Street and heads east on E. Broadway, north on Rupert Street, then regular route to Kootenay Loop.

On weekday early mornings, one southbound trip begins at Rupert Street & E. Broadway with no changes in routing. The first northbound trips start at Kingsway & Boundary Road and head west on Kingsway, north on Joyce Street to Joyce–Collingwood Station, then regular route to Kootenay Loop.

The last southbound trips on weekdays and Saturdays extend past Joyce–Collingwood Station. From Joyce–Collingwood Station, trips head west on Vanness Avenue, south on Joyce Street, and east on Kingsway to Kingsway & Joyce Street.

History

• April 1953 - Planning begins on introducing the route, running along Rupert and Cassiar streets between Kootenay Loop and Broadway & Renfrew, with future plans extending further south to Kingsway. Together with the introduction of the Rupert–Cassiar and
• October 1953 - Service introduced, running between Kootenay Loop and Broadway & Renfrew via Hastings, Cassiar, Rupert and Broadway
• July 1955 - Service revised to run to Joyce Loop, merging with the eastern portions of the Renfrew–Joyce
• October 1976 - Due to the introduction of additional bus routes at Joyce Loop, service revised to bypass the loop and load/unload along Joyce Street
• December 1981 - Re-routed to Champlain Heights
• May 1984 - Destination sign simplification: 27 Rupert renamed to 27 Kootenay Loop/Champlain Heights
• January 1986 - Service revised to connect with SkyTrain at Joyce Station
• May 1986 - Southern terminus moved from Champlain Heights to Joyce Station. Service between Joyce Station and Champlain Heights replaced by an extension of the 26
• October 1990 - Accessible service introduced
• April 2011 - Late-night service reduced from every 30 minutes to every hour due to low ridership
