Route Details

This is an east-west route running in Vancouver connecting 29th Avenue Station in East Vancouver and the University of British Columbia running primarily on 16th Avenue and 33rd Avenue. Service runs daily every 15 minutes on weekdays. Service on weekends/holidays run every 30 minutes.

Eastbound trips depart from the University of British Columbia heading south on Wesbrook Mall, east on W. 16th Avenue, south on Cambie Street, east on W. 29th Avenue becoming Midlothian Avenue becoming E. 33rd Avenue, north on Slocan Street, and east on E. 29th Avenue to 29th Avenue Station.

Westbound trips depart from 29th Avenue Station heading west on E. 29th Avenue, south on Slocan Street, west on E. 33rd Avenue becoming Midlothian Avenue becoming W. 29th Avenue, north on Cambie Street, west on W. 16th Avenue, and north on Wesbrook Mall to the University of British Columbia.

History

• July 2005 - Service proposed as a new crosstown service connecting the SkyTrain network with UBC and bringing transit along the 33rd Avenue corridor. The proposal included potential eastern terminus being at Main Street Station instead of 29th Avenue but was shelved due to problems with the road width on 16th Avenue between Cambie Street and Main Street, as well as a lack of a Canada Line connection
• September 2008 - Service introduced as an alternative to the 99 B-Line and to reduce east-west congestion, with service running Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM with four trips an hour
• December 2008 - Service expanded to later hours and on weekends
• February 1–March 2, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Service rerouted near the Vancouver Olympic Centre and routing rerouted between Main & 33rd and King Edward Station via Main and King Edward instead of 33rd, Midlothian, 29th and Cambie
• February 1–March 21, 2010 - Vancouver 2010 Olympic service: Service rerouted near UBC and rerouted off of Wesbrook Mall and 16th Avenue via University Boulevard and Blanca
• January 2021 - COVID-19 service adjustment: Peak hour service reduced from every 10–15 minutes to every 15 minutes
• April 2023 - Service renamed from 33 29th Avenue Station/UBC to 33 33rd Avenue
• June 2023 - Service renamed from 33 33rd Avenue to 33 16th & 33rd Avenue for clarity. Initially scheduled for rollout on June 26, destination signs were already being updated as early as June 14
• September 2024 - Westbound weekday mid-morning service increased from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes
• April 2025 - Weekday mid-morning westbound service increased from every 12–15 minutes to every 10–12 minutes
