609 South Delta Exchange/Ladner Exchange is a Community Shuttle route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
This is a north-south route connecting South Delta Exchange and Ladner Exchange via sc̓əwaθən məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen First Nation). Service runs daily every hour, with service increasing to every 30 minutes during peak hours and every 30–45 minutes on weekends/holidays during daytime hours. This is the only bus route to connect with a First Nations community in Metro Vancouver.
Northbound trips depart from South Delta Exchange heading south on 56 Street, west on 12 Avenue, north on 52 Street, west on Canoe Pass Way, south on Salish Sea Drive, west on Blue Heron Drive, north on Tsawwassen Drive N., east on Rabbit Drive, east on Wolf Way, east on Cormorant Drive becoming Dragonfly Drive heading north, west on Salish Sea Way, north on 41B Street, west on 41B Street Connector, east on Deltaport Way, north on Arthur Drive, east on Ladner Trunk Road, and south on Harvest Drive to Ladner Exchange.
Eastbound trips depart from Ladner Exchange heading north on Harvest Drive, west on Ladner Trunk Road, south on Arthur Drive, west on Deltaport Way, north on 41B Street Connector, then south on 41B Street, east on Salish Sea Way, south on Dragonfly Drive becoming Cormorant Drive, south on Wolf Way, south on Rabbit Drive, south on Tsawwassen Drive N., east on Blue Heron Drive, north on Salish Sea Drive, east on Canoe Pass Way, south on 52 Street, east on 12 Avenue, and north on 56 Street to South Delta Exchange.
December 2008 - Service introduced as the first and only bus route in Metro Vancouver to connect a First Nations community[1]
September 2016 - Re-routed through Tsawwassen Mills development[2]
May 2017 - Service proposed to extend north through Tsawwassen First Nation to 41B Street & Deltaport Way pending future developments and to discontinue service on Tsawwassen Drive[3]
January 2018 - Operations transferred from First Transit to Hamilton Transit Centre
August 2020 - Routing through Tsawwassen First Nation temporarily revised to go on Blue Heron Drive instead of Highway 17 due to restricted pedestrian access on Tsawwassen Drive N. and various road closures along Salish Sea Drive and Blue Heron Drive restricting traffic to local access only
September 2024 - Various service adjustments:
Service extended from the Tsawwassen First Nation terminus at Tsawwassen Drive N. & Falcon Way to Ladner Exchange, introducing service to the northern section of the reserve and improving connections between Tsawwassen First Nation and other areas of South Delta. Service renamed from 609 South Delta Exchange/Tsawwassen First Nation to 609 South Delta Exchange/Ladner Exchange, although destination signs were already updated as early as June 2024
Peak-hour service increased from every hour to every 30 minutes
Weekend/holiday service from the first departure until mid-morning increased from every hour to every 45 minutes, then from every hour to every 30 minutes until the evening
