Coast Mountain Bus Company 2541–2574 are a set of 34 New Flyer Industries E60LFR units built in 2009. The initial order was for 20 vehicles, but 14 which were part of a hybrid order in 2008 were added.
These units are among the first orders delivered with passenger voice-announcement and display systems by INIT pre-installed. Shortly after delivery, the interior fluorescent lights were replaced with LEDs and CCTV cameras installed in 2011. Compass Card readers were gradually installed starting in late 2012 through 2013. Throughout 2019 and into 2020, driver barriers were installed on all units.
To reduce maintenance and decrease noise, the articulated joints on these coaches were upgraded in-house to have a set of rollers and gears replaced with a slider mechanism. This allows the joint to move independently from the bus and has metal and fabric bellows instead of gears that force the joint turntable to centre itself. This work was done in November 2010.
They are governed to a maximum speed of 65 km/h and fitted with a battery-powered emergency power unit (EPU) for limited off-power operation when overhead line power is not available. The EPU is a nickel-cadmium battery pack capable of approximately 1 kilometre of off-wire travel on level ground.
These units feature vinyl seat fabric compared to their 2007 counterparts which use cloth. As such, these are the only trolleybuses in the fleet equipped with the modern vinyl seat fabric.
Deployment
This series is entirely based out of Vancouver Transit Centre , the only depot capable of operating and maintaining trolleybuses. These can be found on any of the four trolleybus routes that operate exclusively 60-foot articulated buses:
