Coast Mountain Bus Company 8048-8099, 8101

Revision as of 02:54, 22 August 2019 by Express691 (talk | contribs)

Coast Mountain Bus Company 8048–8099, 8101 are a batch of 53 New Flyer Industries D60LF units built in 2000. 8057–8099 and 8101 were delivered with cloth seat fabric. However, some units have had the cloth changed to vinyl after refurbishment.

8057–8084 originally ran on the 98 B-Line exclusively. They were fitted with automated vehicle location technology using a GPS system, a first for Vancouver at the time. The system allowed for bus tracking by transit control and also had the capability to extend traffic lights in the City of Vancouver and in the City of Richmond to give priority through use of an exterior antenna. An audio and digital display system inside announced next stops and in the drivers' area was a mobile data terminal, which allowed drivers to select audio PR messages.[1] To store the extra equipment needed for these amenities, an extra cabinet is installed behind the driver's area above the wheelwell on these units.

Once the route was discontinued in 2009, the equipment was replaced or disconnected. The passenger information system was replaced with the current INIT system and the exterior antenna was disconnected and on most models, the antenna was removed.

8048–8056 were delivered in the sweep livery and 8057–8084 in B-Line livery. 8085–8099 and 8101 were delivered in white with either the B-Line livery or the sweep livery painted on in-house shortly after or in some cases, remain white until refurbishment.

Starting in late 2012 and through 2013, Compass Card readers were installed.
