Coast Mountain Bus Company's North Vancouver Transit Centre was located at 536 East 3rd Street and opened in 1946 as the main depot on the North Shore. Known colloquially as "NVT, or "NVTC", the facility had a capacity of around 60 vehicles with supplemental service provided by Burnaby Transit Centre. It's location in close proximity residential properties raised complaints over noise and pollution over the years.
In 2005, TransLink suggested plans for a replacement facility with the assessment of a 7.5 acre site within the Pemberton industrial area bordered by West 1st St, Pemberton Ave, McKeen Ave and Philip Ave. The new transit centre would allow for service expansion in the North Shore and for servicing of low floor accessible units. With the opening of the new Hamilton Transit Centre in New Westminster, the centre closed in September 2016.
