410 22nd Street Station/Brighouse Station TransLink Accessible bullet-b.png is a bus route operated by Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Route Details

This is an east-west route connecting 22nd Street Station in New Westminster and Richmond–Brighouse Station, with peak hour service through the Fraserwood area. It is a Frequent Transit Network (FTN) route with service 15 minutes or better for 15 hours or more of the day, seven days a week.

Eastbound trips depart Richmond–Brighouse Station heading west on Anderson Road, north along No. 3 Road turning east onto Cambie Road, and south on No. 6 Road. During peak hours, trips continue south on No. 6 Road, east on Westminster Highway, south on Graybar Road, east on Gordon Way, north on Fraserwood Place, and east on Westminster Highway. During off-peak hours, trips turn off No. 6 Road and head east on Highway 91 and then north on Westminster Highway. Then all trips continue north on Westminster Highway, south on Boundary Road to take Ewen Avenue heading east until Howe Street where it continues north, east on Highway 91A by on-ramp to cross the Queensborough Bridge over the Fraser River and off-ramp onto 23rd Street and then 7th Avenue to 22nd Street Station.

Westbound trips depart 22nd Street Station east on 7th Avenue, turning south onto 20th Street, west on Stewardson Way and looping onto Highway 91A, taking the Howe Street exit heading south, west on Ewen Avenue, north on Boundary Road, and west on Westminster Highway. During peak hours, trips continue west on Westminster Highway, south on Fraserwood Place, west on Gordon Way, north on Graybar Road, west on Westminster Highway, and north on No. 6 Road. During off-peak hours, trips exit Westminster Highway and head west on Highway 91 and then north on No. 6 Road. Then all trips continue north on No. 6 Road, west on Cambie Road, south on No. 3 Road to Richmond–Brighouse Station, then east on Park Road, south on Buswell Street, west on Anderson Road to Anderson Road & No. 3 Road.

Select eastbound trips from Richmond–Brighouse Station at the end of the peak hour service and the last weekend/holiday trips short-turn at Westminster Highway & Boundary Road.

The first westbound trips start at Westminster Highway & Boundary Road and the first eastbound weekday trips start at Ewen Avenue & Hume Street.

History

  • September 1991 - Service introduced as 410 Richmond Centre/22nd Street Station, a peak hour only service running every 30 minutes[1][2]
  • December 1992 - One trip during peak hours extended to Edmonds Station to service BC Hydro headquarters. Queensborough routing altered to go via Ewen Street instead of Boyd Street[3]
  • May 1993 - Route extension from 22nd Street Station to Edmonds Station temporarily cancelled due to road widening work on 19th Street[4]
  • September 1993 - Route extension from 22nd Street Station to Edmonds Station discontinued[5]
  • December 1995 - Route revised to provide service in western Queensborough and Hamilton by going via Gilley and Smith Crescent[6]
  • September 1998 - Most weekday trips revised to be extended to Richmond Exchange and introduction of peak hour service via Fraserwood Industrial Park
  • 1999 - All weekend trips extended to Richmond Exchange
  • September 2000 - Operations transferred from Burnaby Transit Centre to Richmond Transit Centre
  • August 2001 - Service extended to Steveston, replacing the Richmond Exchange and Steveston portion of the route 406 Railway/Vancouver, becoming 410 Railway/22nd Street Station;[7] service change deferred from April due to transit strike[8]
  • October 2001 - Late-night Owl service cancelled due to funding shortfall[9]
  • December 2005 - Evening weekday eastbound trip leaving from Steveston at 9:54 p.m. revised to go via Fraserwood to meet overnight shift workers at the HBC warehouse
  • August 2007 - Service rerouted to turn east onto Cook Road, Cooney Road northbound and then Lansdowne onto No. 3 Road during construction of the Canada Line[10]
  • September 2007 - All peak hour trips revised to operate via Fraserwood instead of select peak hours trips and two-way service in the Fraserwood area introduced as westbound trips are revised to no longer mirror the eastbound Fraserwood routing[11]
  • April 2008 - Route joins the Frequent Transit Network (FTN)[12]
  • September 2009 - Service frequency increased following the discontinuation of the 496 Railway/Burrard Station [13]
  • September 2009 - Service returned to original route following completion of the Canada Line
  • September 2016 - Route operations moved from Richmond Transit Centre to Hamilton Transit Centre as part of a mass re-organization involving the closure of North Vancouver Transit Centre and the transfer of all its operations to Burnaby Transit Centre. Introduction of eastbound 410 To Boundary Road and westbound 410 Hamilton Park – which ran twice on weekday afternoons – short-turn trips for buses returning to Hamilton Transit Centre. Richmond Transit Centre maintained one trip during AM peak hours
  • May 2017 - Service proposed to be split into two portions: A western portion between Steveston and Richmond–Brighouse and an eastern portion between Richmond–Brighouse and 22nd Street Station. Eastern portion proposed to run on Westminster Highway for all trips and discontinue service through Fraserwood, which would be replaced by a reroute of the C98 Kingswood/22nd Street Station[14]
  • January 2018 - Discontinuation of 410 Hamilton Park trips
  • September 2018 - Service between Richmond–Brighouse Station and Steveston discontinued and replaced by the 406 Brighouse Station/Steveston to improve route speed and reliability.[15][16] Discontinuation of the AM peak hour trip operated by Richmond Transit Centre
  • July 2019 - Discontinuation of the limited-service 410 Queensboro; service on Gilley Road and Smith Crescent in Hamilton discontinued
  • January 2022 - COVID-19 service adjustment: Minor changes in frequency on all trips daily
    • Weekdays: AM peak hour service reduced from every 5–9 minutes to every 7–10 minutes. Midday service reduced from every 4–12 minutes to every 12–15 minutes. PM peak hour service reduced from every 6–10 minutes to every 10–15 minutes. Evening and nighttime service reduced from every 10–15 minutes to every 12–15 minutes
    • Saturdays: Midday service reduced from every 12 minutes to every 15 minutes
    • Sundays/holidays: Afternoon service reduced from every 12 minutes to every 15 minutes
  • January 2023 - Various weekday service adjustments
    • Westbound early morning service reduced from every 7–9 minutes to every 10–12 minutes
    • AM peak hour service reduced from every 6–10 minutes to every 10–12 minutes
    • Eastbound PM peak hour service increased from every 10–12 minutes to every 8–10 minutes
    • First westbound trip advanced by approximately half an hour from 5:18 a.m. to 4:51 a.m.
  • April 2023 - Saturday midday service increased from every 15 minutes to every 12 minutes
  • September 2023 - AM peak hour service increased from every 10–12 minutes to every 8–10 minutes
