History
Route 56 was operating along it's present arrangement when YRT inherited Newmarket Transit in 2001. It had a different number with Newmarket Transit, however. The only change to this route happened in September 2005, when the 520/521 Newmarket Community Bus was introduced, running along Gorham and Eagle. Frequency was reduced as a result.
