Basic
Route 35D serves Jane Street between Steeles Avenue West and Courtland Avenue. This route only operates during the rush hours on weekdays.
This route has 1 branch:
- 35D Jane Station - Langstaff Road
This route serves the Concord community. It also provides service to the industrial area on Edgeley Boulevard.
Route 35D connects to Viva Orange at Interchange Way.
History
Service was contracted out to the Toronto Transit Commission by Vaughan Transit. This involved the TTC operating the buses and collecting the fares, but Vaughan Transit paying for any losses in running the service. A TTC fare was required for passengers traveling south of Steeles Avenue West, but only a Vaughan fare was required if the entire trip was north of Steeles Avenue. When Vaughan Transit was acquired by York Region Transit, the contract was picked up as well, with similar conditions.
Service first operated to Langstaff Road, looping via Langstaff Road, Edgeley Boulevard and Courtland Avenue. Looping was expanded to start looping at Portage Parkway (just north of Highway 7) in September 1998. Service was reduced in 2005 when 20 Jane was introduced, running along Jane Street from Teston Road to York University.
Route 35D, along with the other branches of route 35, had a hybrid ban due to low clearance at Jane Station. The ban was later lifted in 2009.
Route 35D was declared fully accessible in December 2012.
Route 35D was reduced to rush hour operations only on July 2, 2013 due to the majority of riders migrating to route 20 Jane.
The Spadina Subway Transit Strategy will modify route 35D's routing in 2016. Service will be transferred from TTC to YRT operation and will operate out of VMC Station, providing a one-way loop service similar to the current routing along the Edgeley Industrial Park.
