It also serves East Gwillimbury GO Station, Newmarket Community Arena, Pickering College, Aurora Centre, St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic High School, Aurora GO Station, and Aurora Public Library.

• September 5, 2004 - Route 54 commences service, taking over the Bayview routing of route 33 'Bayview-Leslie'.

• September 3, 2006 - Buses were rerouted from Prospect Street onto Main Street between Davis Drive and Water Street. Before, some trips had an expanded looping that served Main Street between Davis Drive and Queen Street.

• June 27, 2010 - Service to Stone Road is cancelled. Buses instead travel west along Wellington Street, looping via Victoria, Church, and Yonge Streets, to improve connections to Viva Blue and other routes on Yonge Street.

• September 5, 2010 - To prevent confusion, the 'North' suffix was removed from route signs.

• December 2012 - Route 54 was declared fully accessible.

• June 26, 2016 - Service is extended north via Main Street North to serve East Gwillimbury GO Station. Service to Southlake Regional Health Centre and along Davis Drive, Queen Street, and Prospect Street is discontinued.
