History
Vaughan Transit originally operated route 8, which was an important route for York University residents living in Vaughan.
- September 4, 2001 - Vaughan Transit was merged into YRT in January 2001 and on this date, this route was renumbered from 8 to 18 in order to avoid route number duplication across the York Region Transit network.
- May 12, 2002 - This route was absorbed into the extended route 3 Thornhill, operating between York University from the west to Don Mills Road and Steeles Avenue East from the east. In September 2002, the number 18 was reused for a new route—route 18 Bur Oak.
