History

• October 16, 2005 - Viva Orange begins operations as part of Viva Phase 2 operating between Downsview Station and Martin Grove Road via Dufferin Street, York University, Jane Street, and Highway 7.

• 2007 - Viva Orange is officially assigned the number 605.

• May 1, 2011 - Viva Orange was rerouted to utilize the new York University Busway and Dufferin Street between York University and Downsview Station. This eliminated the Keele-Finch station, which was replaced by new stations at Murray Ross and Dufferin-Finch.

• June 30, 2013 - Off-peak service south of York University is discontinued.

• April 20, 2014 - As part of the 2014 Annual Service Plan, service west of Pine Valley Drive is cancelled after 10pm on weekdays and all day on weekends and Holidays.

• December 17, 2017 - With the opening of the Line 1 subway extension to Vaughan, service to York University and Sheppard West Station was replaced by the new subway service. Viva Orange was extended east of Jane Street along Highway 7 and Centre Street to Richmond Hill Centre Terminal. While originally anticipated to replace Viva Purple service west of Richmond Hill Centre, Viva Purple continued to operate to York University on a temporary basis. Weekday evening service west of Pine Valley Drive to Martin Grove Road is also restored. The new Highway 7 West Rapidway section between Edgeley Boulevard and Bowes Road opens and Viva Orange buses now operate over the new bus right-of-way.

• September 22, 2019 - A 2.6km stretch of rapidway along Highway 7 between Bathurst Street and Richmond Hill Centre Terminal opens ahead of schedule along with the new centre-lane Bathurst-Highway 7 vivastation. Viva Orange buses will operate on the new stretch.

• November 3, 2019 - All day service on weekends and Holidays that were cancelled in 2014 is restored. Viva Orange buses now operate west to Martin Grove Road all day every day.

• November 24, 2019 - The Highway 7 West Rapidway extension from Edgeley Boulevard to Bruce Street opens. Viva Orange will now operate along the new bus right-of-way and serve new centre-lane vivastations at Wigwoss-Helen, Pine Valley, Ansley Grove, Weston, and Commerce.

• January 5, 2020 - Construction of the 12.6km Highway 7 West Rapidway is fully complete with the opening of the section along Centre and Bathurst Streets. The final 5.5km Viva Rapidway section features new centre-lane rapidway stations located at Dufferin Street, Taiga Drive, Disera-Promenade, and Atkinson Avenue. Promenade Terminal is no longer directly served, and can be accessed via the Disera-Promenade stop.
