80 Elgin Mills is a base route operated by YRT in Richmond Hill and Markham, ON.
Route 80 serves Elgin Mills Rd. west of Woodbine Ave.
This route has 1 branch:
- 80 Elgin West Community Centre - Betty Roman Boulevard
Route 80 serves the northern Richmond Hill communities and the communities of Cathedraltown and Victoria Square in Markham. It also serves St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic High School, Richmond Green Sports Arena, Richmond Green Library, and Richmond Green Secondary School.
Route 80 started appearing in the 2012 Annual Service Plan, operating between Elgin West Community Centre and Richmond Green Secondary School. This would absorb route 90 operations on Elgin Mills Rd, and route 90 would terminate at Richmond Green. While it was approved to be implemented sometime in 2012, the route never materialized.
The 2013 Annual Service Plan showed a modified version of route 80, operating between Elgin West Community Centre and Woodbine, looping via Woodbine, Betty Roman, and Woodbine Bypass back to Elgin Mills.
Route 80 commenced on June 30, 2013. It was initially proposed to be a Monday to Saturday service only, however Sunday/Holiday service was added at the last minute in order to compensate for the elimination of route 90 along Elgin Mills.
