Richmond Hill High School is a high school at 201 Yorkland St., Richmond Hill ON. It is located on Yorkland St. at Devonsleigh Blvd., near Bernard Terminal. It is directly served by 6 routes (3 of them school specials). Since the school is home to the Advanced Placement program, it draws students from outside the school boundaries as well as inside their own boundary.

440 Richmond Hill School Special

Routing Details

AM: This route started at Richmond Hill GO Station and proceeded via Newkirk, Centre, Pugsley, Dunlop, Wright, Mill, and followed route 83's Shaftsbury Ave. detour to Bernard Terminal, where it continued east on Bernard and north on Yorkland to the school.
PM: Reverse routing.

History

School specials were introduced to Richmond Hill High on May 9, 2004 as part of the Richmond Hill restructuring. School Special 2, as was originally named, operated on mostly the same routing as today, although with AM service only. In September 2004, it was assigned the number 440 (the same route number as one of the St. Theresa school specials), in addition to PM service being introduced.

PM service did not last long, as only AM service was offered effective the 2005 school season.

Route 440 was discontinued for the 2007 school season due to low ridership.

School specials were introduced to Richmond Hill High on May 9, 2004 as part of the Richmond Hill restructuring. School Special 1, as was originally named, operated on mostly the same routing during its time in service, although with AM service only. In September 2004, it was assigned the number 441, in addition to PM service being introduced.

AM: This route starts at Highway 7/East Beaver Creek and proceeds via Highway 7, Leslie, and Commerce Valley West, where it follows the 82 routing north to Farmstead Rd., where it proceeds via Farmstead, Centre, Newkirk (serving Richmond Hill GO Station), and follows the 86 routing to school.
PM: Reverse routing.

History

School specials were introduced to Richmond Hill High on May 9, 2004 as part of the Richmond Hill restructuring. School Special 3, as was originally named, operated on mostly the same routing as today, however it started service at Valleymede and Highway 7 instead of East Beaver Creek. In September 2004, it was assigned the number 448.

The morning trip on route 448 was converted to a route 82 trip for the 2009 school season due to duplication with the scheduled route 82 trip. It was converted back on September 1, 2013 after the elimination of route 82's diversion to Richmond Hill High.
