Mount Dennis Division is one of the Toronto Transit Commission's eight currently-operating bus divisions. Named for the neighbourhood, the bus garage is located at 121 Industry Road in the Eglinton Avenue West and Weston Road area, on the site of the old Feranti-Packard building. Mount Dennis has a maximum capacity of 250 buses.
History
In 2004, the Commission identified the need for a new bus garage to meet future demand by the end of 2006. The Commission approved construction of Mount Dennis Division in October 2004. The 23,000-square-metre facility would have a capacity of 250 buses and include provisions for articulated buses.
Official groundbreaking for the new $78.5 million facility took place on August 18th, 2005 with members of all three levels of government in attendence.[1] Construction began in the winter of 2006. The garage was due to open in September 2007, however operating budget cuts meant the opening would be deferred to the following year.[2] Mount Dennis Division officially opened on December 11, 2008, though operations began on November 23rd coincident with new peak level service improvements.
