St. Andrew Station SmallAccessible.gif is a rapid transit station operated by the Toronto Transit Commission in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 173 King Street West at the intersection of King Street West and University Avenue. The station is named after St. Andrew's Church which is located nearby.

Station description

St. Andrew's walls and support pillars were originally clad in Pearl Grey Vitrolite tiles with blue trim and lettering. The walls opposite the platform were later covered with light blue and white slats with the station name on panels replacing the engraved name on the walls. The support pillars were retiled with rectangular dark green tiles and the rest of the walls including those in the mezzanine were retiled with rectangular light blue tiles. The renovation was done in the 1970s in a response to the deterioration of the original tiles from water.

As part of the Station Appearance Improvement Program, the ceiling slats on the south end of the platform were removed and the ceiling received a coat of teal paint in November 2008. The lighting was also changed to LED lighting in that half of the station. The lighting in the middle was replaced first with the lighting above the platform's edge replaced shortly after. In late June, a new wall treatment was added to the south end of the southbound track. It mimics the original tile colour used at the station.

In late April 2010, construction began on adding elevators to the station. One elevator was built between street level and concourse level replacing the platform lift at the southeast entrance at 145 King Street West. A second elevator was built to connect the fare paid area in the concourse to platform level.

The station has no bus terminal so the connection to the premium express buses can be made at the bus stops on Adelaide Street located one block north of the station. Connections to the 304 King, 503 Kingston Rd and 504 King streetcars can be made at the streetcar stops on King Street West. A transfer is required.
