Bathurst Station SmallAccessible.gif is a rapid transit stop and bus/streetcar terminal operated by the Toronto Transit Commission in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The station is located at 819 Bathurst Street which is one block north of Bloor Street West.

History

Bathurst Station opened with the original segment of the Bloor-Danforth subway on February 26, 1966. The only major difference since its opening was the addition of elevators between street and subway platform level to make the station wheelchair accessible.

Station description

There are two station entrances: the main entrance building on the east side of Bathurst Street and an automatic entrance one block west on the east side of Markham Street. Inside the main entrance is the collector's booth and fare gates and beyond the fare-paid line is the station's bus and streetcar terminal. A streetcar platform stretches along the west side and three bus bays are situated on the east side of the station's outdoor sheltered bus/streetcar terminal. The bus loop wraps around the east and south sides of the station building where buses loop in a clockwise direction. At the Markham Street automatic entrance, there is stair-only access directly to the subway platforms. Connection to the 300 Bloor-Danforth and 307 Bathurst buses can be made one block south of the station at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Bloor Street West.

Inside the main entrance building or from the outdoor terminal, stairs, escalators and an elevator lead down to the underground concourse. A newspaper stand is one of the vendors on this level. From the underground concourse, stairs and elevators lead down to the westbound and eastbound platforms. The platforms are quite basic and the style resembles other stations on the Bloor-Danforth line with with gray-coloured wall tiles and a blue trim.

At the northwest section of the station property is Ed & Anne Mirvish Parkette, a City of Toronto owned public park.
