History

CLRV #4092 on route 505.
  • February 19, 2007 - Due to rehabilitation work on the Don Valley Parkway Bridge, service is diverted via Gerrard and Parliament Streets.
  • June 21, 2015 - Route is added to the Ten Minute Network. With service improvements during the late evening on weekdays, streetcar service over the entire route will operate at intervals of ten minutes or better whenever the subway is open.
  • February 18, 2018 - Due to a shortage of streetcars, the entire route is temporarily replaced by buses.
  • April 20, 2020 - Streetcar service resumes.
  • May 9, 2021 - Due to watermain construction on Broadview Avenue, all streetcar service is cut back to Broadview Avenue in the east with streetcars looping clockwise via Parliament Street, Gerrard Street East, Broadview Avenue, and Dundas Street East. Replacement bus branch 504/505 will operate between Broadview Station and Parliament Street.
  • November 21, 2021 - Route is extended from Broadview to Woodbine Loop via Broadview Avenue and Queen Street East to minimize streetcar buildup as 506 Carlton streetcars now use the Parliament/Dundas/Broadview on-street loop.
  • February 13, 2022 - Streetcars return to loop via Parliament Street, Dundas Street East, and Broadview Avenue. The extension to Woodbine Loop is removed.
  • April 11, 2022 - Due to streetcar track renewal and platform expansion at Dundas West Station requiring the closure of the terminal, service will divert to High Park Loop via Howard Park Avenue.
  • June 19, 2022 - With the completion of watermain work on Broadview Avenue, streetcar service returns to Broadview Station. The replacement 504/505 shuttle buses are removed.
  • September 4, 2022 - Streetcar service is restored to Dundas West Station and will no longer divert to High Park Loop.
  • May 7, 2023 - Due to construction on expanding the streetcar terminal at Broadview Station, streetcar service on Broadview Avenue north of Gerrard Street East is replaced with a 504/505 replacement bus shuttle operating between Parliament/King Street and Broadview Station. All streetcar service is extended east via Queen Street East and Kingston Road to Bingham Loop, replacing 22A Coxwell bus and 503 Kingston Rd streetcar service.
  • June 18, 2023 - The 504/505 Parliament & King - Broadview Station shuttle bus service is discontinued due to lane-width limitations caused by continued trackwork construction on Broadview Avenue. Service is replaced with an extended 72A Pape operating between Parliament & King and Pape Station. No service will operate on Broadview Avenue north of Gerrard Street East.
  • July 4, 2023 - Service every day until 8pm will be cut back to loop at Kingston Road and Queen Street East with service on Kingston Road operated by the reinstated 503 Kingston Road route. After 8pm every day, streetcars continue to operate along Kingston Road to Bingham Loop.
  • July 30, 2023 - Service is now cut back to Woodbine Loop at all times and no longer operates to Bingham Loop.
  • September 3, 2023 - Service is extended east along Queen Street East from Woodbine Loop to Neville Park Loop to temporarily replace 501 Queen streetcar service.
  • September 22, 2023 - With the reopening of the bridge at Queen/Degrassi, all service is cut back to Queen/Woodbine Loop.
  • October 21, 2023 - During the closure of Broadview Station and the reopening of Broadview Avenue south of Danforth Avenue, temporary 504/505 shuttle service is reintroduced operating between Castle Frank Station and Gerrard Street East (Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital) via Danforth Avenue and Broadview Avenue.
  • November 19, 2023 - The 504/505 temporary replacement shuttle bus is extended south from Gerrard Street East to Parliament and King to replace the 72A Pape shuttle. The shuttle will now operate between Castle Frank Station and Parliament and King Streets until the opening of Broadview Station.
  • January 4, 2024 - With the reopening of the Broadview Station bus terminal, the 504/505 temporary replacement shutte bus now terminates at Broadview Station and no longer extend to Castle Frank Station.
