Rosa Parks Transit Center is a large transit terminal located in downtown Detroit, MI. It is located at the northeast corner of Michigan and Cass Avenues, features a large sweeping canopy, features a total of 15 bays and is served by routes from Detroit Department of Transportation, Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation and Transit Windsor, plus People Mover stations: Michigan Avenue Station
and Times Square Station.
History
Planning began in 2001, though ground wasn't broken until October 2005. At first, it was to be called Times Square Transit Center, but was renamed following the death of Civil Rights icon Rosa Parks in 2005. The site took up two blocks, Times Square Park and a building on Michigan had to be demolished and State Street through the site was closed off.
The RPTC opened on July 14, 2009.
