1 Downtown Green Loop was one of two Downtown Get-Around loop routes operated by the Detroit Department of Transportation in Detroit, Michigan, United States.
Route Details
At the time of discontinuation, the Green Loop serviced the east side of downtown Detroit, with the west side being serviced by the Red Loop.
October 10, 1966 - Service begins as a Detroit Street Railway route called Mini-Loop #1. The initial route operated from Grand Circus Park, proceeded south on Woodward Avenue, turned east onto East Jefferson Avenue and turned around west to Cobo Center. Service was initially provided using Minibus MB-711 buses.
July 1, 1974 - Service carried on by DDOT.
1978 - Service extended northward to Montcalm Street to serve park-and-ride lots and eastward to the newly-opened Renaissance Center.
1988 - Route renamed Downtown Green Loop.
1990 - Route cut back to East Jefferson and Beaubien Street, with service to Cobo Center and into the Renaissance Center discontinued.
1997 - Service discontinued, replaced by an extension of the Medical Center Shuttle into downtown.
