Rosa Parks Transit Center is a large transit terminal located in downtown Detroit, MI. It is located at the northeast corner of Michigan and Cass Avenues, features a large sweeping canopy, features a total of 15 bays and is served by routes from Detroit Department of Transportation, Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation, Transit Windsor and Megabus, plus two People Mover stations, Michigan Avenue StationWc15.JPG and Times Square StationWc15.JPG.

History

Planning began in 2001, though ground wasn't broken until October 2005. At first, it was to be called Times Square Transit Center, but was renamed following the death of Civil Rights icon and longtime Detroit resident Rosa Parks in 2005. The site took up two blocks, as a result, Times Square Park and the Lindell AC building on Michigan had to be demolished and State Street through the site had to be closed off. Park Place was incorporated into the main roadway for the RPTC.

The RPTC opened on July 14, 2009.

Routes

The RPTC serves a total of 31 transit bus routes (18 DDOT, 12 SMART, 1 Transit Windsor) and two Megabus routes (M1 and M46) spread across both a total of 15 bays (12 underneath the canopy structure and an additional three on Times Square next to the main building) and separate bus stop flags on adjacant streets.

Assignments are as of December 2018.
