Route Details

The current routing of route 610. This map also shows the current routing of routes 580, 615, 620 and 635.

This route services 15 Mile Road between Gratiot Avenue and Harper Avenue, Harper Avenue between 15 Mile Road and Moross Road, Moross Road between Harper Avenue and Kercheval Street, Kercheval Street between Moross Road and Maryland Street, Maryland Street between Kercheval Street and East Jefferson Avenue and East Jefferson Avenue between Maryland Street and Alter Road. During peak/rush hours on weekdays only, this route continues past Alter Road to downtown Detroit, servicing East Jefferson Avenue, with certain trips continuing to Wayne State University. On Sundays only, this route services Vernier Road between Harper Avenue and 8 Mile Road and 8 Mile Road between Vernier Road and Kelly Road.

History

  • January 17, 1989 - Service carried on by SMART.
  • September 3, 2007 - Direct service to Eastland Center at all times is eliminated, with a Sunday-only routing in front of Eastland Center via Vernier Road and 8 Mile Road introduced in place. Southbound trips begin using Saint Antoine Street to enter downtown Detroit.
  • December 12, 2011 - Due to systemwide service cuts, outside of peak/rush hours on weekdays only, service now terminates at Alter Road. Northern terminus moved from Macomb Mall to 15 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.
  • January 7, 2019 - The Wayne State University terminus at Warren Avenue and Anthony Wayne Drive is made permanent.
