Detroit Department of Transportation 1539-1548

Detroit Department of Transportation 1539-1548 are 2015 New Flyer Industries XD60 buses built in Anniston, Alabama in 2015. These are the first articulated buses purchased by DDOT since 1989 and the second DDOT buses to feature the fleet numbers 1539-1548, which were previously used by 1979 GMC RTS-03 (T8H-203) buses. These are also one of the first New Flyer orders built at the Anniston assembly plant, which New Flyer acquired from North American Bus Industries earlier in 2015. DDOT has recognized the need for articulated buses in recent years due to severe overcrowding problems on several routes.

They are used on weekdays only on 3 Grand River, 4 Woodward, 6 Gratiot and 17 Eight Mile. They have also been used on 7 Seven Mile and 10 Greenfield in the past.
