Detroit Department of Transportation 1500-1508, 1519-1538 are New Flyer Industries XD40 buses built in Crookston, Minnesota in 2015. They were delivered as part of a 49-vehicle order paid for through a $25.9 million USDOT grant recently awarded by President Barack Obama through the FTA’s Ladders to Opportunity program (plus a 20% state match grant). Just about all features are identical to those of 1400-1430, and in fact assembly began shortly after the completion of said order. Vehicles in this fleet were delivered between March and June 2015. They are the second DDOT buses to feature the fleet numbers 1500-1508 and 1519-1538, which were previously used by 1979 GMC RTS-03 (T8H-203) buses.
