39 Finch East and 139 Finch-Don Mills are two routes operated by the Toronto Transit Commission in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The two are grouped together for accounting purposes because they share a significant portion of their route.
Route Details
39 Finch East services Finch Avenue East. There is one western terminal, which is Finch Station. Eastern terminals include Seneca College for 39C and 39F, Neilson Road for 39A and Old Finch/Morningview for 39B. branches 39B, 39C and 39F only operate during rush hours on weekdays.
With 45,200 daily passengers using this route, it is the busiest bus route in Toronto, proven by the corridor (routes 39, 139 and 199) using 58 buses during AM rush hour.
History
- October 12, 2010 - Route 199 Finch Rocket introduced, replacing most express and short turn branches along Finch. Branches 39A, 39B, 39C and 39E are all eliminated, 39G branch turned into local service.
Historical Branches
39A Finch Station - McCowan and 39C Finch Station - McCowan Express. Buses operated along Finch, looping north on McCowan and east/south on Sandhurst Circle. Both branches only operated during rush hours. 39C operated express west of Brimley. Both branches were eliminated October 12, 2010 with the introduction of 199 Finch Rocket.
39B Finch Station - Birchmount. Buses operated along Finch, looping north on Bridletown Circle, east on L'Amoreaux Drive and south on Birchmount Road. Branch only operated during PM rush hour, and was eliminated October 12, 2010 with the introduction of 199 Finch Rocket.
39E Finch Station - Neilson Express. Buses operated along Finch, looping south on Neilson, west and north on Crow Trail and north on Baldoon Road. Branch operated express west of Brimley. Branch operated weekdays and Saturdays only, and was eliminated October 12, 2010 with the introduction of 199 Finch Rocket.

2008 Service Improvements
During the proposed 2008 service improvement period, customers and Toronto Councillor Cho recommended 39 Finch East be extended east to Morningside Avenue, Old Finch Avenue and Valley Centre Drive during weekday peak periods. This extension would be served by every other 39E bus.
