These buses are an extension of the 2013 contract for the 14 XD40s that were delivered in 2013. They have the same specifications as the 2013 order. The order in total cost $3,497,970 making each unit cost $499,475.
On April 16, 2014, Mississauga City Council approved the purchase of 7 40' BRT low floor diesel buses from [[New Flyer Industries|New Flyer]] for a total cost of $3,952,706.10. Given that the order size was small and the fact that previous orders had been awarded to [[New Flyer Industries]], it was decided to sole-source the order.
Originally 6 buses were purchased as expansion units however 7 buses were purchased to replace [[Mississauga Transit 0301-0344#0305|0305]] which was retired from a fire. In 2014 [[Mississauga Transit 0301-0344#0303|0303]] and [[Mississauga Transit 0301-0344#0305|0305]] were retired due to an engine fire and [[Mississauga Transit 0151-0160#0152|0152]] and [[Mississauga Transit 0151-0160#0154|0154]] remained in service temporarily to replace them until 1407 arrived to replace [[Mississauga Transit 0301-0344#0305|0305]]. 0303 still does not have a permanent replacement yet.  All units are in the MiExpress livery.

Delivery began in October 2014, and the buses began entering service at the beginning of December 2014. Six of the buses were used for service expansion, while one bus was used as a replacement for [[Mississauga Transit 0301-0344|0305]] after a fire.
 
The interior features 38 [[4ONE Aries]] passenger seats with Holdsworth Fabrics CAA321 "Cream/blue sixties" fabric. Individual reading lights and power outlets are located throughout the interior. A folding wheelchair ramp is located at the front door of the bus. Rear doors are passenger operated utilizing Vapor's CLASS sensor system. All Windows are flush mounted and of the tip-in transom design manufactured by Arow Global. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are provided by a roof-mounted Thermo King unit.
 
Beginning in 2022, all buses in the [[MiWay]] fleet  had unprotected forward facing seats blocked off or removed. These changes reduced the seating capacity from 38 to 37 seats.

MiWay 1401-1407 are New Flyer XD40 buses built in 2014.
