MiWay 1001-1020 are Orion 07.501 VII BRT EPA 2010 buses built in 2010. Delivery was to commence in August 2010, the first bus arrived in July. Each unit of this 15 unit order costs $525,425.15. These buses are the first production Orion 07.501 VII BRT for a client.
These buses feature a BRT style roof fairing with an enclosure running to the rear; a first of a kind for Orion. The destination sign enclosure at the front also slants upward to match with the BRT style roof instead of the traditional downward slanting enclosure found in all other Orion 07.501 VIIs. They also sport a new livery consisting of a blue front portion that curves up from the front wheels to the roof above the high floor section. The upper module of the rear is also in blue. mi WAY logos are placed under the first window of the high floor section and on the front. There is a mi express logo above the first window, indication the bus runs on express routes.
Mississauga Transit specified Voith or ZF transmissions in their tender. Due to the short delivery time, it was uncertain if Voith could deliver their latest model, therefore the buses were ordered with the new ZF 6AP1400B transmission which debuted with the EPA 2010 engines.
Inside, there is seating for 38 passengers. All seats are of the 4ONE Aries model. After the wheel wells, there are two wheelchair spaces (taking up three perimeter seats per side) followed by forward facing seats to the steps at the rear in a 2+2 configuration. There are three rows of seats on the high floor section that are in a 2+2 configuration and a single side facing seat on each side right before the third set of seats. The fourth row of seats are at the very back with 5 seats. Seats are trimmed in Holdsworth Fabrics CAA321 "Cream/blue sixties" moquette. Flooring is in blue sandpaper.
A folding wheelchair ramp is located at the front door of the bus. Rear doors are passenger operated utilizing Vapor's vTouch system. All Windows are of the tip-in transom design manufactured by Hehr. This appears to be the final order of Orion VII buses with Hehr windows, with Orion moving towards Arow Global products. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are provided by a roof-mounted Thermo King Athenia unit.
