MiWay 1701-1727
MiWay 1701-1727 are New Flyer XD40 buses built in 2017.
In August 2016, a tender was issued for 27 40' BRT low floor diesel buses. New Flyer and Nova Bus responded to the tender as follows:
With New Flyer having the lowest bid, they were awarded the contract in October 2016. Delivery began in June 2017, and the buses began entering service on August 29, 2017.
Unlike previous MiWay Xcelsior orders, these buses feature full length roof fairings. They also feature wider rear doors.
The interior features 37 4ONE Aries passenger seats with Holdsworth Fabrics CAA321 "Cream/blue sixties" fabric. Individual reading lights are located throughout the interior. A folding wheelchair ramp is located at the front door of the bus. Rear doors are passenger operated utilizing Vapor's CLASS sensor system. All Windows are flush mounted and of the tip-in transom design manufactured by Arow Global. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are provided by a roof-mounted Thermo King unit.
Beginning in 2022, all buses in the MiWay fleet had unprotected forward facing seats blocked off or removed. These changes reduced the seating capacity from 37 to 36 seats.
