Calgary Transit 2401-2463

Calgary Transit 2401-2463 are Siemens S200 light rail vehicles (LRVs) built and delivered from 2015 to 2019. Collectively they are known as Series 9 LRVs.
History
Procurement
They were purchased for fleet expansion (35 cars), and to replace some of the oldest U2 LRVs (28 cars). The new S200 LRVs also allow Calgary Transit to run more four-car trains on the system.
In 2012, The City of Calgary issued a request for proposals for new light rail vehicles. They received responses from Bombardier, CAF, Hyundai-Rotem, Kinki Sharyo, and Siemens. Siemens, whose bid was scored the highest, was awarded the $200 million contract in September 2013. An additional 3 cars were added to the order in 2015.
The LRVs are manufactured in Sacramento, California and shipped to Calgary by rail. The first car was expected to be delivered in August 2015[1], however this was pushed back a few months. The first LRV was delivered on January 6, 2016, followed by extensive testing and training. On July 5, 2016, the first Series 9 LRVs entered service as a four-car train departing Tuscany Station.
