Calgary Transit On Demand provides on-demand transit service to select communities in Calgary, Alberta that don't have traditional fixed routes. The service is powered by RideCo.

North Calgary On Demand

History

  • August 9, 2019 - Service introduced as a pilot project, providing brand new service in the Carrington and Livingston communities. The service was contracted to Southland Transportation.
  • March 27, 2024 - Contractor switched to Via Transportation.

Service

  • Upon introduction, this service was contracted out to Southland Transportation. When the service was introduced, 2 Ford Transit vans were allocated to On Demand service, with 2 Toyota Siennas being used as spares. In case of a shortage, a unit may be transferred from Southland's Calgary Transit Access contract.
  • This service operated in the Carrington and Livingston communities in North Calgary, allowing customers to book trips to/from anywhere in the listed communities as well as the North Pointe Terminal and the shopping centre nearby.
  • Upon the switch of contractors to Via Transportation in 2024, 2 Honda Odyssey vans were allocated to the service.

    • 5:00am - 9:00pm
  • Saturday:
    • 7:00am - 8:00pm
  • Sunday:
    • 9:00am - 5:00pm

West Calgary On Demand

History

  • October 13, 2020 - Service introduced, replacing routes 94, 164, 439 and 454 in West Calgary.
  • September 4, 2023 - On Demand service was discontinued when fixed routes were re-introduced.

Service

  • This service was ran with regular Calgary Transit community shuttle buses. When the service was introduced, 12 buses (1200-1211) were allocated to On Demand service, each receiving a side and rear On-Demand wrap and a tablet for the RideCo software. By September 2021, the On Demand fleet was reduced to 10 buses (1200-1209).
  • This service operated in the Aspen Woods, Christie Park, Strathcona Park, Signal Hill, Springbank Hill and Discovery Ridge communities. Trips could be booked to/from any of the listed communities, as well as 69 Street LRT Station, Westhills Shopping Centre, Signal Hill Centre and Richmond Terminal.
