Calgary Transit route 142 is an express bus route designed to serve the northwest communities of Country Hills and Panorama Hills, connecting passengers to downtown Calgary.
Current Routing
Trips in the morning towards downtown would start northbound on Panorama Hills Way at Panorama Hills Lane NW and continue west on Panorama Hills Way NW, south on Panorama Hills Blvd NW, west/north on Panorama Hills Drive NW, east on Panamount Blvd NW/Country Village Road NE and south on Country Village Link NE to the North Pointe Terminal. From there, trips continue west on Country Village Way NE, south on Harvest Hills Blvd N, west on Country Hills Blvd NW, south/west on Country Hills Drive NW and south/east on Country Hills Road NW, following Harvest Hills Blvd N / Centre Street N towards downtown. Trips in the afternoon towards Panorama Hills come from downtown via Centre Street N / Harvest Hills Blvd N and then head west/north on Country Hills Road NW, east/north on Country Hills Drive NW, north/west on Panorama Hills Way NW, south on Panorama Hills Blvd NW, west/north on Panorama Hills Drive NW, east on Panamount Blvd NW/Country Village Road NE and south on Country Village Link NE, terminating at the North Pointe Terminal.
History
August 28, 2000 - Route introduced, to add new express service in the northwest communities of Panorama Hills and Country Hills. Trips to downtown start southbound at Panorama Hills Drive and Panorama Hills View NW and go south/east on Panorama Hills Drive NW, south on Panorama Hills Blvd NW, east on Country Hills Blvd NW, south/west on Country Hills Drive NW and south/east on Country Hills Road NW, following Harvest Hills Blvd N / Centre Street N towards downtown. Trips in the afternoon to Panorama Hills come from downtown via Centre St N / Harvest Hills Blvd N, travelling west on Country Hills Blvd NW, north on Panorama Hills Blvd NW and west/north on Panorama Hills Drive NW. Trips would then loop around via a gravel bus turnaround located at Panorama Hills Way at Panorama Hills Lane NW and backtrack the way it came up until Country Hills Blvd and Country Hills Drive NW. From there, Route 142 buses would go south/west on Country Hills Drive NW and south on Country Hills Road NW to terminate eastbound at Country Hills Road and Country Hills Landing NW.
March 10, 2003 - The Panorama Hills routing was modified due to further community development. The AM start point, and the first PM bus stop would be revised to northbound on Panorama Hills Way at Panorama Hills Lane NW, and travel north/west on Panorama Hills Way NW, north on Panorama Hills Blvd NW, west on Panamount Blvd NW, south/east on Panorama Hills Drive NW and south on Panorama Hills Blvd. From there, Route 142 buses would continue the normal route from Country Hills Blvd.
August 30, 2004 - Due to the implementation of the 301 BRT North/West route, as well as the deletion of Route 141 North Pointe Express, Route 142 would be modified to serve the remainder of Panamount Blvd NW served by Route 141, plus serve the North Pointe Terminal. The AM start point, and the first PM bus stop would continue to be northbound on Panorama Hills Way at Panorama Hills Lane NW, and travel north/west on Panorama Hills Way NW, south on Panorama Hills Blvd NW, west/north on Panorama Hills Drive NW, east on Panamount Blvd NW/Country Village Road NE and south on Country Village Link NE to the North Pointe Terminal. From there, trips continue west on Country Village Way NE, south on Harvest Hills Blvd N, west on Country Hills Blvd NW to the regular route on Country Hills Drive NW.
March 12, 2007 - Route modified so that afternoon trips would serve Country Hills first, then Panorama Hills, then North Pointe Terminal. From Harvest Hills Blvd/Country Hills Road N, the new afternoon routing would travel west/north on Country Hills Road NW, east/north on Country Hills Drive NW, north/west on Panorama Hills Way NW, south on Panorama Hills Blvd NW, west/north on Panorama Hills Drive NW, east on Panamount Blvd NW/Country Village Road NE and south on Country Village Link NE, terminating at the North Pointe Terminal. Morning trips would remain unchanged.
May 25, 2020 - Route suspended until August 31, 2020 due to COVID-19 service restrictions.
December 25, 2020 - Route suspended until August 30, 2021 due to COVID-19 service restrictions.
August 30, 2021 - Service reinstated.
