Calgary Transit 8201-8202
Calgary Transit 8201-8202 are New Flyer Industries XN40 buses built in November 2012 and delivered in December 2012. The buses were purchased alongside 8203-8204 as part of a 12 to 15 month trial to see how the CNG-powered buses perform in Calgary's climate, and to measure the anticipated cost savings with switching to CNG fueled vehicles. They entered service on March 12, 2013.
The buses made their debut in all-white with Calgary Transit decals and decals promoting CNG. One of these decals at the rear showed a sapling next to the phrase, "Natural gas buses are better for the environment and this tree. Watch it grow." Periodically, the decals were replaced with new ones depicting the progress of the growing tree, eventually reaching along the sides of the bus.
In late-October 2019, both buses have had their tree wraps removed, and were wrapped in the red livery just like Calgary Transit 8203-8204 were one year prior.
