Calgary Transit 8101-8130

Calgary Transit 8101-8130 are Nova Bus LFS buses built and delivered in 2010.

These are the first Nova buses ever purchased by Calgary Transit, having purchased from New Flyer Industries for the past two decades. Nova Bus released a statement in December 2009 confirming that they were awarded a two year contract by Calgary Transit with the possibility of extending the agreement for a further three years.

16 buses that were intended as part of this order were built with EPA 2007 engines instead of EPA 2010 engines. These buses were not accepted by Calgary. Nova Bus allocated a certain number of EPA 2007 engines and EPA 2010 engines to each manufacturing facility based on the specifications of the orders each facility were to build. The Calgary order, originally intended to be built at Saint-Eustache, had to be moved to Plattsburgh to maintain the delivery date. The engine allocation, however, was not adjusted, and EPA 2007 engines found their way in some of the Calgary buses. Two of the rejected units were sold to CIT Laurentides in summer 2010, and the remaining 14 were later sold to Regina Transit.

Garage Transfers

• All units were originally housed at Spring Gardens.
• All units transferred to Stoney Garage in March 2019.
• During the COVID-19 pandemic (from April-August 2020), many units were temporarily housed at Spring Gardens while Stoney was closed. This is so they could accomodate drivers who could only drive Novas.
