Calgary Transit Route 301 is a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route designed to connect Centre Street North to downtown. The end point is known as 'North Pointe Terminal' and is a major bus hub in the north end of Calgary. This route was the first BRT route to be introduced by Calgary Transit, is the major connector route for the north end of Calgary. Route 301 serves several stops in Downtown Calgary, also serving limited stops along Centre Street N and Harvest Hills Blvd N.
History
August 30, 2004 - Route introduced as Route 301 BRT North / BRT West, replacing Route 141 and portions of Route 144. Trips to North Pointe Terminal would start at the Westside Rec Centre Terminal, and would travel east on 17 Avenue SW, north on 37 Street SW, east on Bow Trail SW / 9 Avenue SW, north on 6 Street SW, east on 5 Avenue SW, north on Centre Street N / Harvest Hills Blvd N, east on Country Village Road NE and south on Country Village Link NE to the North Pointe Terminal. Trips to Westside Rec Centre would continue south on Country Village Link NE, west on Country Village Way NE, south on Harvest Hills Blvd N / Centre Street N, west on 6 Avenue SW / Bow Trail SW, south on 37 Street SW and east on 17 Avenue SW to the Westside Rec Centre Terminal.
June 27, 2007 - Articulated bus service introduced.
June 5, 2010 - Due to West LRT construction, the Westside Rec Centre terminal (now renamed 69 Street Park and Ride) was now closed. The 301 would now be re-routed to serve the Sirocco Park and Ride, located at 17 Avenue and Sirocco Drive SW.
October 8, 2012 - 69 Street West Bus Terminal reopens after construction was completed. The 301 was temporarily revised to it's original routing so that construction could begin on Sirocco LRT Station's Park and Ride.
December 10, 2012 - West LRT opens, and as a result the 301 is revised to only operate between North Pointe Terminal and downtown. Towards downtown, after Centre Street N, it would go westbound onto 6 Avenue SW and then southbound onto 11 Street SW to the terminus at 7 Avenue and 11 Street SW. To North Pointe, it would go eastbound on 9 Avenue SW, northbound on 6 Street SW and eastbound on 5 Avenue SW to Centre Street N.
March 11, 2013 - Downtown terminus revised to SB 10 Street & 7 Avenue SW instead of SB 11 Street & 7 Avenue SW.
March 10, 2014 - Downtown terminus revised to SB 7 Avenue and 7 Street SW instead of SB 10 Street & 7 Avenue SW.
June 27, 2022 - North Pointe Terminal bus-only road opens. All service along Country Village Road was eliminated, with the 301 now travelling along the new bus-only road.
