Calgary Transit Max Teal also known as route 306, is a bus route part of the "MAX" Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. This route connects the southwest of Calgary to downtown, serving a variety of destinations in southwest and southeast Calgary including 37 Street SW, Mount Royal University, Rockyview Hospital, Heritage Park, Deerfoot Meadows, as well as the communities of Riverbend, Quarry Park and Douglas Glen in SE Calgary.
Current Routing
Towards Douglas Glen Terminal, the MAX Teal would depart Westbrook LRT Station, going south on 33 Street SW, west on 17 Avenue SW, south on 37 Street SW, east on Richardson Way (making a brief stop at the MRU West bus loop), southwest on Richard Road SW, east on Mount Royal Gate SW, south on Crowchild Trail SW, east on Glenmore Trail SW, south on 14 Street SW to the 14 Street transitway, east on Heritage Drive SW/SE, east on Glenmore Trail SE, south on 18 Street SE and finally a loop around a 107 Avenue SE, 27 Street SE, 29 Street SE and 114 Avenue SE to terminate at Douglas Glen Terminal. Trips towards Westbrook would follow 114 Avenue SE and 24 Street SE in order to travel to 18 Street SE, from there following the reverse.
History
December 10, 2012 - Route introduced as Route 306 BRT Westbrook/Heritage, operating via 37 Street, Mount Royal University, Crowchild Trail, Glenmore Trail, 14 Street and Heritage Drive SW. At MRU, the 306 served two stops, the MRU bus loop located at the west side of the campus and the East Gate. This route operated with either 40-foot or articulated buses during peak hours, and depending on signup, community shuttle buses and 40-foot buses were used during off-peak hours.
November 19, 2018 - Route rebranded to MAX Teal Douglas Glen / Westbrook as apart of the original MAX route rollout. The route was extended east on Heritage Drive SE to serve Deerfoot Meadows, then east on Glenmore Trail SE and south on 18 Street SE to Douglas Glen terminal. The MAX Teal would also be modified to not serve the MRU East Gate stop, the stop was instead relocated nearby to Richard Road and Westmount Way SW. Articulated and community shuttle bus service was removed.
December 23, 2019 - Route modified to serve the 14 Street transitway, and as a result several stops along Heritage Drive SW and 14 Street SW were relocated. Eastbound trips during peak hours would be revised to use the Lakeview Bus Bypass to skip the long line of traffic at the Crowchild Trail and Glenmore Trail SW interchange.
