Calgary Transit route 85 Martin Crossing is a bus route that is designed to serve the community of Martindale, and connect customers to McKnight-Westwinds LRT Station and Saddletowne LRT Station.
Routing History
December 17, 2007 - Route introduced as "Route 85 Saddle Ridge", replacing Route 428 Saddle Ridge in Martindale and most of Saddle Ridge. Trips would start at McKnight-Westwinds LRT Station, and would travel east on Westwinds Drive NE, north on Castleridge Blvd NE / Martindale Gate NE, west/north on Martindale Blvd NE, east on Martin Crossing Drive NE, north/east on Martindale Drive NE, south/east/north on Saddletowne Circle NE, east on 80 Avenue NE, north on Saddlefield Drive NE, west on Saddlemont Blvd NE / Saddlehorn Drive NE, north on Saddleridge Drive NE, west on Saddletree Drive NE, south on 52 Street NE, east on 80 Avenue NE, south on Saddletowne Circle NE, west/south on Martindale Drive NE, west on Martin Crossing Drive NE, south/east on Martindale Blvd NE, south on Martindale Gate NE / Castleridge Blvd NE and west on Westwinds Drive NE to McKnight-Westwinds LRT Station.
August 27, 2012 - Route modified upon the opening of Saddletowne LRT Station, and was renamed to "Route 85 Martin Crossing". All service in Saddle Ridge was discontinued and would be served by Route 60 Taradale and Route 61 Martindale instead. Route 85 would also be revised to terminate at Saddletowne LRT Station. The routing from Saddletowne Circle NE to McKnight-Westwinds LRT Station would remain unmodified.
Service History
December 17, 2007 - Route operated during peak hours at a 15 minute frequency and off peak at a 30 minute frequency.
August 27, 2012 - Weekday midday frequency revised to 15 minutes.
June 24, 2013 - Weekday midday frequency revised to 30 minutes.
March 9, 2015 - All service after 18:00 discontinued.
March 7, 2016 - Weekday peak hour frequency revised to 20 minutes. Evening service re-introduced. All off-peak frequency revised to 35 minutes.
Late-2010s - Route revised to operate exclusively with community shuttles. Off-peak service revised to 45 minutes.
September 3, 2018 - Peak hour frequency revised to 25 minutes.
September 4, 2023 - All off peak service revised to operate every 25 minutes.
December 18, 2023 - Route revised to operate with conventional buses during weekday peak hours and weekends.
