Brampton Transit provides transit service to the city of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, a rapidly growing suburb of Toronto. Brampton Transit offers services that cover the whole of Brampton, and offers connections to other parts of the Greater Toronto Area through GO Transit's Georgetown corridor rail and bus service, as well as Mississauga Transit (Mississauga), York Region Transit (York Region) and the TTC (Toronto).
History
Starting out as a Dial-a-bus service until the mid 1970's amalgamation of various smaller agencies, Brampton Transit is currently expanding to meet the needs of the city, including: bumping up frequencies, purchasing new buses to replace old ones, and introducing new routes to existing and developing areas of the city. Recent developments include the online route planning system eRide, equipping its fleet with bike rack for the Bike & Ride program, and planned future Bus Rapid Transit service known as Züm.
Züm
Main article: Züm
In the summer of 2009, the City of Brampton finally unveiled its new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service brand, "Züm" (pronounced Zoom). Previously known as AcceleRide, Züm is planned for Fall 2010 implementation, and will eventually grow to a network of BRT lines along key corridors throughout the City. Züm will be operated by a fleet of specially painted New Flyer Xcelsior BRT buses.

Fleet
Prior to 2002, the numbering series was based on year built and number in the fleet (8280 being built in 1982 and bus 80 of the fleet), subject to resetting every 100 buses. With larger orders coming and beginning with the 2002 D40LF's, the numbering system was changed to year built and bus number in the specific order (0201 being built in 2002 and the first bus of the order for that year).
