Ber
they should try the style used in the hong kong MTR where its formatted as: the next stop is X; interchange station to the Y line. short, sweet and to the point Is it absolutely a policy mandate that the station name be repeated twice back to back? thats how they got the original interchange announcement all screwed up and overly draggy. Grapejuice
All these attempts to make these drawn out announcements only serve to perpetuate the problem with people who go out into the world unprepared for the world. If you have uncommon sense you would prepare by knowing your route from A to B and what streets/stations to listen/look for and you wouldn't need to have an announcement tell you that Bloor or Yonge or Bloor/Yonge is a transfer station. You'd simply hear "The next stop is Bloor, Bloor station" and your uncommon sense would kick in, you'd get off the train and start looking for the signs that point you to where the platform is for the direction you are going next. And what if you are from out of town and are unfamiliar with the system? Is the extra 3/10ths of a second it takes to say the word "interchange" (or whatever variation of it you so choose) really going to impact your life? No, but... Do the smart thing: get a map or ask an employee Exactly! Uncommon sense still applies no matter where you originate and no matter what language you speak. When I went to London England before I even entertained the idea of stepping foot on transit I collected the information I needed ahead of time. Proactive rather then reactive. All that said I don't really care one way or the other if it says "interchange" or not. Nor would other people with uncommon sense.
lip
Just realized that not all TR trains have the new "interchange station" annoucement changed yet. I cant remember the exact car numbers, but 546X was still announcing the "interchange" portion of the annoucement. I was a little surprised to be honest when i heard it. adys123
I actually really liked the interchange station message, and didn't think it was too confusing, but I understand that some people might think it is confusing. Do they still say terminus station at the terminals? Last time I heard it was in a video.

vivablue5215
I believe I saw that one in service on Saturday afternoon while I was driving down Allen Rd. Do they still say terminus station at the terminals? Last time I heard it was in a video. I was just down there last Friday at Downsview Station and it was saying the message while waiting for departure which is "The Next Station is Terminus Station Downsview Station" which is what I have seen. Haven't seen it yet for Finch Station though. I have been seeing a lot more "Toronto Rocket" trains and seeing a lot less of the older trains. Always good to see the "electronic route map" and knowing which stations have been served and which stations are coming up along with visual and audio announcements and seeing where the doors will open. soo8513
By my count there are 240 TR cars in service and 136 T1 on the YUS so you have a 2:1 chance (2 in 3) of getting a TR.

Turtle
Are they still not using the outside cab doors? Has that issue been resolved? There are a few trains that the cab doors can be used, but some operators are reluctant to. It is awkward to use that door "cab side" with the seat right there, the door is heavy to open sometimes, and a few of the modified ones are finicky. Set 546x is getting bad again. Most times it is easier to use the "saloon" door, especially when you have a whole lot of junk to carry out with you. You need two hands free to get that door open, there is a flap you have to lift with one hand before prying on the handle with the other. The saloon door can be opened with your bum if your hands are full, so most times it is easier to use, except when the train is jammed with passengers who can't/won't move out of the way. Shaun
I saw one 54XX set with a jerry rigged door. Did they resolve the issue with the door sync? Where the train would detect the door is open and you could not operate the train?

Ditto for car 5795 yesterday afternoon shortly before 1:00pm. Piecing together a routing from various sightings, they appear to be using WB Highway 7, SB Keele, WB Steeles, and SB Jane during delivery. A TR passed by Highway 7 underneath the 404 just after 12pm yesterday, probably 5795 like you saw. Cars have been taking Highway 48 during delivery too, but they wouldn't be going down Main Street Markham (especially with the current construction), so I'm not sure how they link up between those roads. soo8513
I guess it had to happen. Interior fleet number on car 5783 is a different font from the rest of the fleet. Sorry, no camera available to record, but the font is the same at both ends.
