    TTC Electric Buses

As J boic explains, youre opinion is welcome, but its a fan''s opinion with no substance or justification. Time will tell if this control stays or goes. Until then, let the professionals make the call.

    York Region Transit \ Viva

not to mention will they come with the never used exterior door opening buttons. Have they ever been used in passenger service? Every order has them but ive never seen any being activated. Was this a relic spec from 2005 that they didnt bother removing? Also on a wider note, will YRT/Viva ever modernise crystal? Her bionic voice is clearly way obsolete and can do with a new software upgrade

i have a feeling it might noot even return to service given the fact that its been waterlogged with raw sewage. Theyll probably have to strip it down to the frame in order to clean it and rebuild it

So have we reached a point where we don't have to celebrate the arrival of each new flexity?

    Today's Special Sightings

EX yrt 9401 was on the 403 yesterday. Looks like it was bought by a private entity and kept alive albeit with peeling paint and decals

Well seeing that bbr is desperately trying to get back on track and ttc is getting more cars more frequently perhaps this is really low on the priority list. They have enough cars for their current schedule so perhaps theyll retain the car for testing and training. i think they'll eventually send it back, but not for a while

it would make a whole world of difference if the voice type wasnt so bad at pronunciation. makes every announcement cringeworthy which is why its so hard for people to filter it out as white noise...its just a constant thorn in ones ears

The init system in general os really out of date to begin with. Crystals pronunciations are just terrible at times and very robotic. Yrt needs to invest in new software that better mimics the natural human voice
  12. anyone have anymore updates on the 17xx series of buses? which of these have arrived so far?

    VIA Rail Canada

It's kind of a shame that via brushes off these delays especially the ones that are less than an hour as if it's business as usual. I just wrapped up my trip in Japan and man all the trains are on the minute and the rare delays with the local lines are explained immediately. The shinkansen is always on time despite travelling at over 300km/h with multiple different trains weaving around it. At one point 4 trains stopping at different stations and frequencies were separated by only 12 minutes. That's the Japanese. I only hope our service standards will begin to approach theirs soon

i also noticed that they plan to have cornell open sometime early next year....have they started building yet? They need to dig NOW if they are to meet their target date

IMO i dont really mind stop announcements for every stop....but for the love of god please replace crystal on YRT/VIVA!!! its robotic butchery of street names is just agonizing....please yrt update the software...

How about a new livery on TTC buses?

Yea.....we would be delighted if you can provide us with your rendering and how much more superior it is to the ops job. Really, show some class and actually be a bit grateful that someone actually took their time to visualize something out. To most people it's decent enough until someone actually sits down for a few hours to round off the edges. Please don't make this forum toxic. It's already bad enough at Urban Toronto with armchair politicians and urban planners claiming to know everything

IMO its more because of annoying crystal than the message itself. YRT should seriously consider updating the voice itself being over 10 years old. Not to mention some of the messages really need to be truncated to be more clear and concise They are using a gen 1 voice tech that was quickly surpassed by what TTC uses, which sounds worlds more natural. I think that would be a more prudent investment than needlessly adding more viva routes that are half full at best

well congrats to YRT and the contractors for finishing 2 days (albeit 1 years behind the original estimate) early now if TTC can keep their schedules........
  20. wow so NFI is trying to monopolize the industry here.... Just like Luminator has bought up twin vision axion and others
  21. that window does strike as a little odd because its frameless unlike the other ones. (im sure they couldve gotten it to match the others) could it be that they changed to framed windows mid production or they took another order that had it?
  22. Rimless windows I presume are an expensive option It's probably why it was exercised for the xcelsior order as well Then again yrt to them can't be as premium looking as viva
  23. Nope The military pension is a federal government program. It's transferable if you're switching to the rcmp or other federal branches

was hoping that they would've taken the opportunity to repaint it to look more like the new cars...then again if the hope is to have them only as a stop gap measure until production ramps up probably wont be really worth it
