I question thaty? I listened al the time and I'm sure quite a few here did on the Board, at least for the OC channels.

Truthfully, I wouldn't doubt that only three individuals listen to the online scanner (with myself being among those three). And I am doubtful many on this board actually listened to it.

I am sadden to see the online scanner site go, but it was great when it was there. I did save some good audio from that site (which I won't post them, because it's inappropriate to do so).

Question?

On the new E Buses where the wheel chair postions are there's a barrier between that spot and the 2 sets(either side) forward facing seats.

Assuming OC orders the NFI model over Nova(WHEN OC) are you going to make up your mind on which one your going to pick.

Anyways do you think OC will order them without that barrier?

Keep in mind the four XE40s are a very bare minimum spec unit by OC. When the rfp was put out there wasn't much info given to New Flyer so they gave OC whatever they thought we'd want/need

Seating barrier, storage locker, narrow side dest sign, small steering wheel, Incorrct mirrors and dual brake lights are just a few of the oddities of those units that OC won't likely carry on with

UPDATE, the owner of the site has taken it down because of low interest in people listening to the feed (he stated maximum of 3 listeners).

Unfortunate that it went down, I listened to it a bunch shortly before! I guess I was the third listener....

The STO have increased their fares as of 1st January:

http://www.sto.ca/fileadmin/user_upload/communications/PDF/Tarification/Grille_tarifaire_Web_2024_e.pdf

There seems to be some conflicting information on the STO's website regarding the transferability of personalised Multi cards.  On this page, it says that regular-fare (not Fidelity, senior, student, or ECHO) Multi cards may now be shared, but on this page, it says only the registered user may use a photo card.

It seems the Transit app is now showing the fleet number of the next bus on a given trip.

It would be nice if we could see how crowded the upcoming trip is! My understanding is that it is not supported in Ottawa however (but STO does have it).

It does though  I believe the feature relies on crowd sourced information. (I usually answer the pop ups when I use the Go Feature).

I also just checked a random trip on the Sto. It seems the fleet number for the Sto is also displayed.

Comment: Hopefully the fleet number would be made available to the open-data community.

It will be through the GTFS realtime feed.

That's what Transit is apparently now using under the hood, which means public access should be just around the corner.

I've recently noticed this as well. The crowded feature doesn't always show if crowded or not. I've only seen it displayed twice on all the routes that Transit shows. Not sure why though, but it's nice to see if your going to get a Nova, Invero, Artic  or DD bus? The one thing I hate is you try to find the bus location it sometimes works and sometimes not it shows the bus info  Bus#/Accessible/Crowed. You sometimes have to click the bus icon a couple of times to get it to work. It does say if the trip is canceled or not(sometimes YES, sometimes NO)

New Shelters

So OC puting in 14 New Shelters at Tunneys & 9 New Shelters at Hurdman. That's fine and dandy.

BUT!!

What about putting in heaters to keep passengers warm in the winter. Other Transitway statios have them, why not Hurdman & Tunneys.

The old Hurdman station had them, why not now. Grant you they heated the shelters to some degree, but at least there was some heat compared to now. Even though your out of the wind, it's still Freezing in those shelters. As for the heaters on the LRT platform at Hurdman what JUKE open space where the wind still blows and the heaters are to high to really give you sany heat from them. Close of the area with glass encloser with a door, then at least you'll get at least some heat, maybe not hot but at least some warmth.

Simply put, it's due to the fact that it would cost too much money.

If that's the case why then are there heaters being installed on all the new LRT Stations in Phase 2? Also if it's to expensive why are the heaters in the existing BRT/LRT station operational, they should trn them off then? NO?

The fact be the old Hurdman Station had the. Fallowfield Stations which basically has the same design shelters has heaters why not Hurdman?

Shelters and heating is relatively inexpensive, but retrofitting built infrastructure to allow for electricity (and the right current to support the heating elements) to be supplied is. The shelters at Tunney's Pasture are temporary until Stage 2 opens, after which the additional shelters will be reallocated to regular bus stops. Unsure about Hurdman.

It's still nice to have some heat, at least in "the older ones?" I'm just curious as to why they never build the "Bus Shelter" directly under the LRT> There's plenty of room to do it? May Be later? Who knows?

It appears as if, at Hurdman, the spots allocated for tree beds on the platforms are undergoing construction to remove the tree beds, cover them and install shelters,

I was taking the bus the other day as my car was in the shop, but I couldn't help notice there was a new infobox circulating. It has a picture of a person, looks like a bus driver? Couldn't read it or anything as I only noticed it while riding the bus, but I assume it's a recruiting poster? It was on Route 11 between Tunney's and Woodroffe when I saw, forgot where though... Was just curious to see if anyone else has seen it and if they have a photo?

What is the name of this app mentioned here? I can't find it on Google Play...thanks.

If you’re referring to bus tracking, OC officially partnered with Transit for bus info.

Is it me, or has the quality of drivers just done down since the recruitment requirements have been relaxed quite a bit? This morning, was waiting at Colonnade at Merivale, trying to turn left. When pulling up, couldn't help notice that despite there being 3 SIGNS saying no right turns on red (CA-ON_road_sign_Rb-079-R_svg.thumb.png.962db38443a837f51c686f6e0d06294f.png) the driver of 4503 on the 83 (I assume Baseline) at 7:27 AM coming from Merivale garage did it anyways. Regardless of your opinion on rights on red or whether the driver could safely do it, it's the principle: Sign/law says no, yet you do it anyways. And if it's not purposeful, then why is a driver with perceptual blindness driving a bus?

Even on the parkway at night, I've noticed *a few* bus drivers who will use their high beams, but fail to lower them in the face of oncoming traffic. I would have to return the favour for them to finally lower it (if they even lower them at all) but again, I shouldn't have to do that in the first place...

If you look YouTube for "cancerman88" he has a BUNCH of other OC bus driver failing horribly - rolling stops, not merging properly, can't keep their lane, etc. I'm just concerned these drivers are going to kill someone one day because of their negligence and inattentiveness. Am I the only who feels this way?

That may be true and not just drivers "break traffic rules" other drivers do it too, but what gets me(and probably a a lot of drivers{public}don't know this) is that they must 'YIELD" to a bus(OC) when pulling out of a bus stop. This isn't a "By-Law" it is a actual provincial Ontario Highway Traffic  Act. More advertisement should be done to inform drivers about this.

Found the Act:
